Re: Transmission questions!

Thanks Neil, Yes, you're right, it's 4 speed. It's a 1931 AA mail truck. US mail was branded on the back side of the tires when I got it. I'll try and some photos up. That's sounds good Kim but I'm concerned that I'll get bits of metal and other bad things in the bearings. It was suggested I dilute...

Re: Transmission questions!

My '28 stake truck is a 3 speed, with a 1 1/2 ton rating. As far as cleaning the tranny, I'd start with gasoline flush, then do the 30 wt. , run it a bit, then regular gear lube. Run that then switch to 600 W . As far as how the water got in there? Gremlins!!! Good luck and keep us updated... ...

Re: horn mounting ??

Bob: Your correct! I looked it over today, and it is not an original . It was made, originally, with one wire from the motor winding being sandwiched between and then spot welded to make the ground connection to the frame. Then some one added a wire to ground ( connect ) it to the two wires from the...

So, is the horn supposed to be insulated at it's mount? Mine was, then shorted out and blew the fuse and left me stranded. :x Can it be that something in the horn is wired wrong? :? Any info?? Thanks...

The center sticks up around the handle when assembled.. That's why it looks odd.

Re: Early left location E-Brake boot

Thanks, I assume it is the same boot that is used on subsequent models? They have the metal retainer for the floorboard and the only boot they offer is the one for all the Model A’s. They were out of stock when I placed an order for one, but should be in within a week. Thanks! Good! Then your all s...

Re: 88-A Platform Bed Questions

1. The 3rd stake pocket (AA-88239) from the left on the rear d3 crossmember (AA-88097-B) has a square hole in the side. Does the hole go to the right when view from standing behind the truck? The drawing you have shows it on the right side. 2. Two of my stake pockets have holes in their faces. Are t...
