Re: AA model identification

That truck is from a different place and at different time with different laws. Gas tank in the rear, front, or in the middle It's still around.

Looks like the green object next to the tank may be a fuel filter as it sure don't need a pump.

Re: PARTS FOR SALE

Eric, Tom, I'm not taking sides and I sure don't know what was discussed between you and the person you talked to about the wheels and tire's and I appreciate your integrity One thing I do know, is, no one replied thru- the buy/sell forum to the buyer ( which made me wonder, who of all of us reading...

I always worry about someone selling something for another person. It was a heck of a deal if for real.

Re: How to clean rear axle and torque tube for painting?

I don't want to change the subject although I wish I could have gotten involved with Mr Moore's and Mr Wilson discussion about wheel carrier's, as my 31 157 wb has the flat carrier as shown in Neil's detailed sketch mounted left to right with the long hinges. I'M also interested in the painting info...

Re: newbie speed questions (31 AA 157" dually)

Scott, You do have the 31 rear end on your 157" AA frame, no question what it is! Also, you may try looking for the vin # right adjacent to the inner cab mounts, it has two holes in it. Good luck with your idea, you may check out Mr AA's statement about his ride cruising nicely at 35 per hr bef...

Re: 157"chassis

Shelby, appreciate your feedback. I agree, it has to be a shifting of leafs. I laid the springs side by side and stuck a 1 1/2" pin thru the center pivot bore of both spring assy and the shackles were off set 1/4" from end to end. From looking at the center pin that runs up thru the leafs,...

Re: Help!!

I was wondering the same thing. It had to have a lot nickle in it to weld cast iron so well, I would think. If you can check some of your old welds to see if they are rust free and not magnetic it would give a clue as to what it was. One thing for sure, Nickel= expensive. You are so right about cham...

U joint ??

How do you remove the U joint from the intermediate shaft, does it require a puller. I have to remove the outer housing tube as it is trashed where it enters the rear mounting hemisphere. I separated the u joint by pulling the wire retainers from the outer cups on one half of the joint, but, I'm won...

Re: 157"chassis

Thank you all for the feedback, I now feel my truck is not unique with this out of whack condition. I removed the springs and although things were greased up well for the most part, their is some wear on the lower side of both the pivot post that goes through the center of the springs. I haven't loo...

Re: 157"chassis

Shelby, Interesting, One of my radius rods has a noticeable bow in it although it measures the same as the other side when measuring from the mounting points of the axle to the mounting lug on the drive housing. I removed the rear end yesterday and am going to get into the springs today, I can't ima...

157"chassis

Although I have looked at this truck almost every day for 30 yr's there are things I never noticed. With the chassis bare except for front and rear suspension (sitting on the wheels) I'm admiring how straight every thing looks, when I notice the rear end housing doesn't appear to be in the center of...
