Every thing that Luke said, PLUS there is a Dipper Tray in your oil pan that can be removed to get at all the sludge in the bottom. It snaps into place and might be a bit difficult to remove.

If you insert the end of a baseball bat into the oil pump opening you can pop the dipper tray right out
