Re: Wanted: Early '28 AA wheel lug nuts

Thanks, I appreciate the effort but looking at my 2019 Snyders catalog I only see the early '28 lug nuts for the Model A car, on Page A-99. These are smaller than for the truck (11/16" hex vs 15/16" for the truck). Am I looking in the wrong place?

Re: Wanted: Early '28 AA wheel lug nuts

I'm not sure I understand your reply. Are yours like the tall style shown in my picture? I am looking for that tall style :)

Re: Wanted: Early '28 AA wheel lug nuts

Hi Kim and thanks for offering those lugnuts, however they are not the early '28 style as shown in the photo I posted at the top of this thread.

Early lug nut common w/TT?

Does anyone know if the early 1928 AA wheel lug nuts (hub bolt nuts) were common with the '26-'27 TT with wire wheels? I've added a photo below of what I'm looking at, supposedly this is a '26-'27 TT wire wheel hub. They look similar in shape, but I'm not sure of the size. All I have is the photo. s...

Re: Wanted: Early '28 AA wheel lug nuts

Thanks Neil. Maybe where I need to be looking is in the scrap pile behind some old Ford dealership buildings!

Following up on Neil's comment, if there are any machinists out there that might be willing to undertake such a project, please let me know : )

Re: Wanted: Early '28 AA wheel lug nuts

Thanks, Kim. I've been looking for 2 years and have found no reproductions and only 4 originals. These were only used on AA trucks through mid '28, so not a lot out there. I'd give a good price to anyone that can round some up!

Re: Torque Tube Internal Parts

Neil, another thought...could it be that in reverse, the speedometer gear's forward motion is restrained by the u-joint?

Re: Torque Tube Internal Parts

Neil, I remember wondering this same thing when I disassembled my worm drive torque tube. I think the extra clearance actually ended up being between the seal and the bearing sleeve. Remember that "button" impression on the bearing sleeve snaps into the hole in the wall of the torque tube ...

Re: Thermal Dynamics

Hello Dave- Yep, as I mentioned, there are benefits to running antifreeze and that should probably be the first recommendation. However, if someone is wanting to increase system capability (ambient temp or altitude) by squeezing a few more degrees from the operating temperature, running distilled wa...

Re: Thermal Dynamics

Thanks for the question, Neil. Andy Weideman had a cooling presentation out there that I'd like to reference but can't seem to find right now, so I'll put into my own words. The presentation refers to the Model A cooling system as a hybrid thermosyphon/water pump system, with the water pump being ef...
