Re: Valve stem for outside dual wheel
Thanks for the reply Bob. I kept looking for more information since it seemed to me that facing the stem of the outside dual toward the lock ring would make it difficult to access. However I found the below diagram in the May 1930 Ford Service Bulletin. Looking at the upper Figure 904 shows that the...

Valve stem for outside dual wheel
For a 1931 AA with dual wheels, I understand how bent valve stems are needed for the front wheels and the inside duals. But are bent stems also used for the outside dual (and you just orient the bent stem so it faces outward) or straight stems?

Re: 2022 FMAATC Meeting + Keith's Collection Visit
A HUGE thanks to Keith for leading the SIG meeting and the tour of his collection. I think everyone in attendance found Keith's trucks and his knowledge of trucks to be quite amazing. For me, one word pretty well sums it up: "WOW!", because I believe this word was said by everyone many tim...

Congratulations to the AA trucks judged at Morgantown!
The MARC National Meet was last week at Morgantown and AA's were well represented. In the Fine Point judging 5 of the 17 were AA trucks! Full results are shown below. The Stakebed and Dump trucks were restored; the Tanker, Express, and Fire Truck were original. Congratulations to all, especially Dou...

Re: head lamp conduit tech. question
From the RG&JS, page 15-6: ===== Commercial vehicles initially used the same conduits as passenger vehicles. Beginning in September 1930 standard commercial models used black, woven, non-metallic, loom conduits with stainless, chrome plated or black enameled steel ferrules. 1931 Deluxe commercia...

AA Frame Welt
In the latest issue of the Restorer magazine, there is an article about installing frame welt. The author states that the AA's used 2" x 1/8" frame welt, versus 1-3/4" x 1/16" for passenger A's. I hadn't heard this before and I'm not sure it makes sense since the webbing is only ...

Re: Early 1928 AA floor mats
It has been determined that the earliest '28's did not have mat retaining studs at the base of the hinge pillar, so it would be good to leave those holes out as well. They could be added by the owner if needed, similar to the dual high holes.
And yes, I'd be interested in a mat for my truck.

Needed -Pair of platform u-bolts
I am in need of 2 platform u-bolts of d1 style and medium length for my early '28 AA truck. The d1 style has the half-round portion extending almost down to the threads on both sides (reference the attached photos). Length should be 11-7/8 inches long.
Thanks for your help!

Re: 28-29 AA 4686 torque tube grease retainer
I'd try Tom Godish of Model A Ford Works, Portland OR. 503-282-2212. He helped me out with some inner rear axle felt seals and retainer cups for my early '28 worm drive axle.

Re: 29 Closed Cab Roof Trim and Rain Gutter
Here's a good photo of the rear of the rain gutter. This isn't my truck...someone else provided me this picture. As you can see, the finish strip is longer than the gutter and is nailed over the top of the hidem.

Re: Early left location E-Brake boot
Thanks for the information, mine was completely gone when I brought my truck home. The metal frame was there but the rubber was totally disintegrated. I’ve checked with Snyder’s and they do not offer a reproduction like the original. I might try to find a boot that can be repurposed that is similar...

Here's a photo of the original LH hand brake boot from the RG&JS, page A-13.
