where do these parts go?
I've got the same problem now that I had all along in this restoration. The parts listed in the pictures below go in the door opening in some fashion but since I failed to take pictures as the cab was taken apart three years ago, I'm at a loss as to how they fit. There are holes for 6 flat head scre...

Re: Cowl lacing, how?
Got the correct lacing from Bratton's today. Do the 3 slots at the bottom of the channel have any thing to do with it? Also, I don't see the screws you were talking about. Do you glue this welting down or just rely on the tension to keep in place? Also, thanks much for your time and trouble. N. Reed

Cowl lacing, how?
I need guidance on how to apply cowl lacing on my truck. I bought "cowl lacing" from my supplier that is about one and one half inches wide in a ten foot long roll. I've seen pictures of cowls with a strip of material only about three quarters of an inch wide in the first channel on the fi...

Re: doors won't fit!
I plan to go down to the covered bridge festival this fall. Hope to have the truck drivable by then. I got the wood from bratton's along with a LOT of other things. In fact I'm going to call in another order today. They always send exactly what I order and from New York to here only takes about 2 da...

Re: doors won't fit!
Need to reply to shorthaul about the top side panels. These are the ones off the truck as it came out of the woods in Minnesota. They had a screw hole every 3 inches all along the entire length plus the back had the holes as did the sun visor. Whoever had this truck before me had screwed a piece of ...

Re: doors won't fit!
Now they do! I bent hinges and tightened the body bolts and got the results shown in the following pictures. Put the latches in and the doors close and latch with a very satisfying clunk. God bless a 20 ton press and 5 hours of patients. I'm almost ready to take it back to my paint man for finish co...

Re: doors won't fit!
The body work on this truck was done by the best sheet metal man I have ever seen. He is EXPENSIVE but well worth it. I've been bending hinges to get the gap within tolerance on the hinge side of the doors and am going to try some shims to align the belt rail. I guess I wont worry about the overlap ...

Re: AA memerories
Here in east central Indiana scrap is going for 360.00 a ton. Still not worth scrapping a AA but it sure increases the traffic past my place with every thing from junk fencing to school buses and combines. We have a scrap yard with a crusher and baler just 2 miles north of us which makes mowing the ...

Re: doors won't fit!
Thanks for the link. I will try some shims to get the gaps closer. Also comforting to hear that your doors were wider than the opening. I thought I was loosing my mind! I'll post more pictures as I add shims so I can quit having to get my wife to help me every time I take pictures to put on this sit...

doors won't fit!
After straightening the sheet metal, replacing two rivets at the lower braces on the sills and installing the wood kit on my 82b cab, I've found that the doors no longer fit the openings. The bottom of the doors measure 29 inches and the door openings measure 28.5 inches. The bottom edge of the door...

Re: orphan parts for my 82b
Thanks to both of you for the information. I was almost certain that the pieces fit like you said but I didn't wont to put any nails in the new wood without being certain because they come back out HARD!

orphan parts for my 82b
Can someone please tell me where these parts go on my 82b cab. I took it apart too long ago to be able to remember. It seems to me that they go in the top of the door opening but they don't fit exactly and some of the holes for the screws and nails interfere with the corner brackets. http://i1105.ph...

If both drums have a 5 hole pattern you should have no problem. Ive done the same thing using a Hartford dividing head.

Re: Axle configuration
These are pictures of the puller I built after ruining three different factory made pullers of increasing sizes. This puller is made so that it bars against the ground to prevent turning when standing on the 7' pipe that it took to break the hub loose. The screw is a 1.25" fine thread grade 8 b...
