Re: Towing?
There are about as many ways that hitches have been installed as there were weldors over the years. Here are some I have collected.

Re: 1931 AA Tandem rear axle
The tandem axle AA was donated by Tim Kelly. The previous owner told Tim it had been used at Hoover Dam and that is why it has both of the rear axles powered. It was suggested that the truck was used to haul a compressor on the Hoover Dam job site. Apparently there were very few of the tandem axle t...

Re: Dispatch Pocket location?
I agree with the other responses that say the dispatch pocket was standard in all 82-B cabs. While this is not proof that the pocket was in all 82-B cabs, it is interesting to note that in the August 1930 parts book, the left hand cowl cardboard assembly for the 82-B is part A-45271-F, the same piec...

Re: NEW UPDATE My 1931 AA IS NOT for sale Near San Francisco
Your number is what I came up with before I saw yours. The digit in most doubt for me is the three, which might be a 5. But it makes no difference to the dating of the truck and its parts at that position, so NO Worries!

Re: Manifolds
Stuffer, There will be more heat radiated toward the distributor than with a standard manifold. You might want to install a steel heat baffle between the radiator section of the manifold and the distributor. However, if you are in a cold area and want to run this truck only in cold weather, your dis...

Re: U-Joint ID
You are probably looking at component rough casting numbers. These would be internal to the finished part and not the service part number. Engineering has to use many numbers that may never be seen by the vehicle owner or released for Service. Being so close in sequence to the service part you are l...

One would have to see in person, but it looks to me like two shorter boxes spliced together. Have you seen in person and looked for splice welding?

Square head bolts and square nuts
Here is a post of interest from a tractor hobbyist forum. I have not personally bought any of their goods. One thing that is neat is they have icons on their home page that say "no hex", "no Phillips" and "no zinc". A place with guts like that needs our support!: I foun...

If the parts are painted after assembly, why do they need to be assembled or tightened further (which chips the paint)?
