Re: What happens when a flat occurs

Having to spend a month working in my units tire shop in Viet Nam I learned one very important thing. Always be on the inside of a split rim wheel when airing it. If the ring decides to take flight is is going away from you.

Re: Help identifying the vehicle

It looks like all you will have to do is remove the splash apron on the drivers side to find your serial number as the body is missing in that area.

Re: Help identifying the vehicle

The radiator shell and headlights are from a car, not a commercial vehicle. I see the cowl also has holes for cowl lights, also indicating it if from a car. It does have a mixture of '30 and '31 rims. From the heavy axles it is a late '30 or 1931. The fenders with two piece splash apron say 1930. As...

Re: Worm drive tag

The '30/'31 High Speed units had a brass tag. Some with a number and others without.

Re: Worm drive tag

It may be to show the gear ratio has been changed from what is stamped on the housing.. So you will have to check the ratio. Can do via counting drive shaft rotations to wheel rotation. Be sure to keep the tag!!! Or, if the speedometer is accurate, look at the ratio stamped on the speedo drive gear.

If the gears are that rusty the bearing probably aren't much better. I would pull the
trans and disassemble it. You might get more response if you put this in the discussion forum.

Re: Draining Coolant

What do you mean not sealed? Here is an article about Evans being used in a 1930 Model A cross country record-breaking drive, NY to California (50 hours). https://secure.performanceracing.com/news/ocean-ocean-world-record-set I read the article. No where does it say if it was a sealed or open syste...

There were some made a few years ago. I think its time for a new batch to be run. I'll buy a set.
