Re: New Guy w/ 1929 AA Truck

Nah the winch don't look to bad ya just don't stick your fingers where they don't belong.. Old stuff is so cool... 8) Yeah, your right. Identify plate

Looking through the pictures of the truck on the index page, I'm curios what the plate with the hole and teeth and is laying on the tire is for. I don't recognize it from my 31 AA

It amazes me how when looking at vehicles in this condition how many good things are hidden in carnage.

Re: '30 AA rear shackle bolts needed

Clamp the piece to be drilled in a drill vice, use the edge of a file to file a small flat across the threads of the bolt, eyeball and center punch the flat. Use a small center drill to start hole, remove center drill and drill correct size hole. Countersink to hide the flat.

Re: restore or original

Rolling,

I'm glad you asked this question as I have a AA that needs something. After reading Chris Haynes reply I thing I may save myself loads of work and do what I was doing before parking it back in 83.

Check the Airforce musuem at Dayton Ohio website. They have a 1931 AA stakebed on display. Don't know if they have a picture of it though.

Re: What is this???

Which mount are you refering to? The clevis mounts with the holes thru- looks like spring mounts. maybe the wheel base was shortened, you can see where the frame was cut. or, are you refering to the channel with the two plates with a verticle hole thru-.
