Re: Model A hard to start with the starter, But hand crank e

I was in the coffee shop and got some razzing to the effect "Why don't you put a big V8 in one of those old Fords of yours; something you don't have to crank." My response: "Real men crank". Got some cheers from the crowd. Best, Ed

Re: Correct spare tire carrier lug nuts?

If one bought an early 1928 AA flatbed the company recalled them(more than once) and replaced the 15/16 lug nuts with 1-1/8. Since the 15/16 jam nut couldn't be run off one needed TWO starting handle/lug wrenches!

I think the model 315 standdrive milktruck had the brake handle to the left of the shift lever.

Re: Should body color = firewall color? What color is mine?

Blue Rock Green. This was the standard color for dealer inventory in 1930-31. Some AA trucks were purchased as a cab and chassis only with owner or aftermarked body added; perhaps yours. Blue Rock Green is a nice color and correct for a truck. I live in Cumberland RI if you want a hand with those wh...

Re: 1930 AA Ford Flatbed For Sale

The "Ford Truck" flat bed is for a Model TT. The AA version would have rivets below the center stake pocket for the spare wheel bracket.

Re: Horn type

Looks like a Sparton for a late 1932 Ford car & truck. Also used on the 1933-1934 truck. It is illustrated in a 1932 Ford Service Bulletin and shows how to mount it on a 1928-1931 car or truck as a replacement for the motor driven one. I have one on my 1928 truck because it came in a swap for so...

Re: hi everyone !!!

You need a 1930-31 headlight bar and lamps. As for the rear end I'd drive the truck around and see if you like it before getting a replacement chassis. Maybe the rear end you have is a high speed one. I would enjoy the truck as is for a while; get the bugs out of it. Best, Ed

Re: Grease Fittings

The set (for the car) can be ordered from various dealers. I use TAMS and recommend them. It's his part #A3000-M or you can order piecemeal from him. The original grease fitting driver tool is a must. It's a $3.75 item. There's no way these can be driven in place without this. You also need a grease...

Lubrication of AA springs

The AA spring has 5 lubrication points. On the example shown someone tightened the castle nut so tight the pivot would never move. When I removed the spring to clean up the leaves the main leaf (ie the bottom one) broke in two places at the U bolts. The up side is there was no need to rebush. These ...
