Re: u-joints

My 1930 SWB also has a coupling shaft. The end at the transmission is attached by male and female gears. The end connecting to the driveline has a U joint. Now when I added the Warford auxiliary transmission, that replaced the coupling shaft, I now have a U joint on the rear of the Four Speed and at...

Re: Old ICC License Plates from AA?

I found this on wickopedia. The Interstate Commerce Commission (or ICC) was a regulatory body in the United States created by the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887, which was signed into law by President Grover Cleveland. The agency was abolished in 1995, and the agency's remaining functions were tran...

Re: Old ICC License Plates from AA?

Maybe I'm having a bad day, or maybe my posts have upset you, maybe I haven't earned my wings in your eyes, But I can't help but think that your last response was very flip, and not helpful. Since I have scoured the internet to find a source of this info, and since the ICC was eliminated some years...

1932/'33 cast iron brake drums

Has anybody installed 1932/'33 cast iron brake drums with the built in hubs on a 1930 AA? What is needed? AA Bearings and seals or BB?

Is there anyone out there that can identify or verify this plate??

Thank You

This is the trucks "Interstate Commerce Commission" number. Trucks hauling between states needed this number. It is not a licence plate.

Re: AA

The first picture looks interesting. I would not restore a truck like that. I would keep it as is except for the mechanical stuff. It is in great original looking condition. The truck has a 28-early 30 body, 30-31 headlights, 30-31 wheels, and (correct me if I am wrong) 28-early 30 radiator cap and...

Re: Diagram of 30 AA bevel gear Rear Axle?

You can find all this by looking in a Ford Chassis Parts List. I have found that the later books printed in 1936/'37 have great illistrations where the actual 1928-1931 A books do not.

Here is one from Craig's List.

Re: need your input on tires

I use Denmans, because I don't trust Firestone tires. I've had 2 sudden Firestone sidewall failures on my modern vehicles that almost resulted in catastrophic disasters at 70 mph on the Interstates. I will not use Firestone tires on anything. I would like to know how you got your AA to 70+ MPH? :D ...

Re: leave it alone or restore

A good coat of paste wax will save the patina and stop further rusting. Rust needs air to spread. Wax cuts off the air.
