When the big 29 AA left the factory with the 6 hole wheel, was the dust cover black or silver?

Re: 28/29 Warford in a 31 AA
My 3 spd is on the bench like yours, it is easy to see that the bottom of the filler plug hole lines up with the center of the input shaft which means oil will run out for sure. Look inside the input shaft housing 2041A and see if there is what I will call an oil washer dam 2034, they call it a bear...

Re: Warford Assembly
Go to post below, 28/29 in 31 AA, look at the diagram, it is deceiving, it is not in order. I rebuilt 3 spd but never used it, its sitting on my work bench so I took it apart and measured the thrust washer, it is .187" thick, 1.480" on the od, with a 1/4" hole in the center, I'm sure ...

Re: radius rod help
Stakebed, are you sure that its a negative 3* castor that I need, that means the top of king pin would be tilted to the front?
I really need your input, thanks nick c

Re: Warford Assembly
One more thought since your piecing it together. There is a thrust washer that sits inside the input shaft and its about 1/4" thick, don't forget it.

Re: radius rod help
Very interesting, now we're getting somewhere. From what I've read, with a positive castor the top of the king pin leans back, with a negative castor the top of the king pin leans forward, is this correct?

Re: Warford Assembly
When I rebuilt my warf 3 spd, I put 1 gasket on the front 1/64" thick, then on the back I put a gasket 1/64" thick and there was a little too much drag, so I made a gasket 1/32" thick and the output shaft spun freely.

Re: radius rod help
The shackles are new, if the spring was sagging I think it would have some positive castor? Is it true that there is no front or back to a model aa axle?

radius rod help
I'm restoring a 29 AA, last year I removed the front axle, dismantled it completely, sandblasted, primer and paint, reinstalled it, I did not check caster angle. The wishbone is not bent or damaged in anyway. I have read that there is no front or back to the axle. The king pins are new, and the spri...

29 rear hub bearing grease
There is a grease fitting on the back side of the 29 axle, it looks like it only greases the axle shaft OD and the axle housing ID.
If this is true then would be a good idea to drill and tap a hole for a grease fitting in the hub between the studs where there is a hollow spot?

Re: 1928speedometer cable
I originally posted the question back in Feb. 2014. I couldn't find the right drive cable for the job. I ordered a new outer conduit with the new inner drive cable included. I got it from Mac's, part # 28-25072-1 cost $62.50. My truck is a 29 AA, with an oval speedometer.
