Thanks...I was thinking along those lines but didn't think of turning down a coupling nut. I didn't do the dissassembly and thought it was possible that that Henry had some special nuts and my helper had lost them...it is a cool fix...cant wait to get on it!! My welding is .....lets just say the gri...

running board splash apron

A simple question.....does the splash apron at the running boarde go over or under the two little tabs on the frame? The carriage bolts dont seat in the slot if I put the splash apron over them altho otherwise that is the way it looksz like they should go. thanks

Check the length of the threaded stud against a known good one and I'll bet that the one you are having trouble with is too short. You'll have to cut the stud at a lower point and weld a good threaded stud to the one you have to make it long enough to go through the cowl to put the nut on.[/quote] T...

Attaching cowl band

i can't re attach my cowl band (31 AA) The little bolts that go thru the guides at the ends dont extend far enough thru to get a nut on the end...some one else took it off so not sure if there is a special nut ....at any rate is there a trick anyone knows to getting the band on??....thanks

The Picture attached to the topic "open coupling shaft" reminded me of how innovative some of the shade tree repairs on these srturdy beasts are. In that picture you can see that the tower cap is spot welded to the tower and there is no sign of the stock pins. I wish I had pictures of all ...

Mike, Mine has two grease fittings. Both on drivers side, one just ahead and one just aft of where the speedo connection is on the other side.
