Re: Old ICC License Plates from AA?

Maybe I'm having a bad day, or maybe my posts have upset you, maybe I haven't earned my wings in your eyes, But I can't help but think that your last response was very flip, and not helpful. Since I have scoured the internet to find a source of this info, and since the ICC was eliminated some years ...

Re: Old ICC License Plates from AA?

Could it help me identify my Truck? Do you know of an ICC registry?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Emergency Brake Lever

Could you post a picture of your actual set-up? I have 2 AA's in rough shape, one that was highly modified. It has both the pistol grip and button on top brake levers for different purposes. The pistol grip one locks a brake on the massive winch in the bed. Both are custom set-ups, but I have not se...

Re: heads up next phase

Hey RS, Those are great photos! Never pulled an A head so I can't say whether that port is missing, I would guess from my Engine Machinist experience that a port in the head and not in the block is very common on many engines, and the gasket would seal off the port in the head. Seen it on probably 3...

Re: aa mud flaps ?

Hey tt, Don't blame the lowly lumber stores, that was a mill trick, a little less lumber for the same money, same with plywood, candy bars... I especially like the huge Candy wrappers that you have to search around in for the bar. Same price though. Also, I meant 4 x Material, your choice of Height,...

Re: aa mud flaps ?

Just remember a 2 x 8 is really 1 5/8" x 7 1/4" I think.

I also would go with a 4 X, which is around 3 1/2" wide so it fits the frame better, won't tend to shift side to side.

How much does that little racer weigh?

Re: aa mud flaps ?

tt, If you want it judged as correct you need to follow the standards, but if you want it just to be pleasing to the eye, you can be as clever as you want about where to mount it. I have always had an issue with how high the subframe is on most large trucks. I am certain that the choice of factory h...

Re: 31 dualy rear wheels?

Man, I'm tired just looking at your old rims...

I woulda gone with the duck tape and Fibreglass method on those, or better yet, put a chain on 'em and use 'em to anchor a boat.

Great opportunity to practice up on your welding skills.

Re: 31 dualy rear wheels?

I need the answer to the question about your Black wheels also, they look slightly different.

Mine all have the little bump before going to the spokes.

Don't Apoligize for the wheels you show in that picture, here is what mine looked like after I cut the old tires off!

Re: piston stamped .070

Let me make sure I understand you correctly. You think you need to bore out the engine to clean up the surface rust. If I just wanted to get it running, I would check the depth of the ridge at the top of each cylinder. If there is no perceptable ridge, I would pull the pistons and clean them includi...

Re: piston stamped .070

I've restored a few vehicles in my time (this is my first Model AA). I can tell you as a shop owner I was a perfectionist... I would not let anything pass, especially if I had to back it. On my own vehicle, it's now a different story. I can always go back in and redo something on a vehicle as simple...

Re: 31 dualy rear wheels?

This pic is of the back side of my wheel. My camera sucks at close-ups, so I will try again later. It's raining out and it is really cold here in Northern California (about 57 degrees 8)). I ground away with the wire wheels until I could find the stamping. On the left it says "Budd Wheel Manufa...

Re: 31 dualy rear wheels?

The pic with the serial number isn't from the set, it is a photo forwarded to me from an AA "expert" who said that they were the same wheels, and would fit perfectly.

The ones I bought fit perfectly, but I haven't looked at the serial #'s yet.
