Re: 1929 Grain truck rear door

Elfox - would you be able to post some pictures of the door mounted on your truck and some of the truck without it in place?

Re: I need information on grain bed end gates.

Neil,
Sounds good, I'll send you an email. Mine originally had three rows on it too but long after the truck was parked in the barn the previous owners dad apparently needed some wood to repair a feed bunk. I sort of like it with only two rows and it certainly makes it easier to see.

I need information on grain bed end gates.

I've finally found some good weathered barn wood that matches my side boards. So now that I have some this winter I'm planning building the folding end gate for my truck. Does anybody have an end gate similar to my trucks rack? If so I would like to get some pictures and measurments so I can build o...

Re: Best Fuel Choice

Use the lowest octane rating available. The lower the octane rating the easier that the fuel burns and you get better performance and better mileage. High octane fuel is harder to ignite and is used to prevent knocking (pre-ingnition) in high performance, high compression engines.

Re: Fire Truck Start Success!

Matt - before you take the water pump apart try to tighten the water pump shaft packing nut. If the packing nut hasn't been tightend for a while it might take several turns. Snug but not super tight. Be careful when greasing the water pump. Any excess grease will go right into the coolant / radiator...

Re: Fire Truck Start Success!

Matt - with the floor boards removed you will get a lot of heat in the cab. So I wouldn't worry about that. What temperature did the themometer read? When you look inside the radiator neck you will see the top of the over flow tube. It runs down along side the radiator to the bottom. If the water le...

Re: Fire Truck Start Success!

Go to Harbor Freight or similar place and get an infrared thermometer. "Fire" up the truck and get it good and warm. Play the thermometer over the radiator to see if you have areas of uneven temperatures that would indicate restricted flows. On my radiator I removed it and sealed the hose ...

Re: Platform and Type of wood used.

If you do end up using pressure treated lumber make sure that it has had plenty of time to DRY! If not the shrinkage will be a problem. I personally wouldn't use treated lumber. I don't see where it would be necessary unless you plan to leave your truck out in the weather. Finding good hard yellow p...

Re: 56th Annual New England Model A Meet in Maine

I like the 29 82-A. With a little extra TLC that original finish could really stand out. I think the guy that welded on those rear fender pieces must have been the same guy that welded mine on. Really piled on the weld....

I need a drum tail light for my January 29 AA

If anyone has one or two drum tail lights that have a bit of patina to them that you would be willing to sell I would certainly appreciate it.
