Re: Ford truck restoration
Hello Keith, I believe your truck is a Candaian/Australian built model "AAC". I hate to disagree with some of your other answers, but maybe they have never seen one of these trucks. I'm going to say your truck is a late 1928 model due to the Canadian Style Budd wheels on it. According to t...

Re: Gear Oil
A 140 gear lube would be a better repalcement for Fords 600W that was used. The 600W was a ISO industrial grade that compares to the SAE gear oil 140 weight. A 90 weight SAE gear oil tops out about 300 on the ISO industrial grading system chart.

Re: Rear Hub puller For the Ford TT & AA ton truck!!!!!!!!
NAPA stores used to carry a heavy-duty three leg puller to pull hubs. It will bolt onto three wheel nut studs if you drill out the 5/8" holes to 3/4". Last time I checked on them they were $75, probably more by now.

Quotes from the Indy Service Letters dated 2-5-31: "For trucks with the older type scalloped hubs and single wheels which are operating under conditions which will not permit the use of dual wheels, we are providing a flanged steel adapter plate, AA-1123R, which is to be installed next to the h...

I agree with the consensus that your dump is a Anthony body. If you need more information I have some Anthony catalogs I could copy or email to you.

Re: Identify plate
According to the January 1931 Service Bulletins, the adapter plate was used on the early 1930 single rear wheeled trucks with the scalloped hub design. The hubs were redesigned to provide a flat surface for the wheel to mount against, so these adapter plates would no longer be needed.

Re: Let's Talk Clutch
Hello Bob, Maybe you should consider using a regular Model A clutch and pressure plate. The AA's pressure plate had heavier springs and thus makes the clutch pedal harder to push. If your truck is not going to haul loads and or your popcorn truck body is not real heavy, then you may get away with ju...

Re: AA u-joint
Hello 31 SWFL, I probably can help you with a AA ujoint. I'd have to know which style you need for your '31. This would be determined by whether the rear end of the driveshaft is riveted to the pinion shaft of the rear. Initially, the driveshaft coupling was riveted to the driveshaft and the pinion ...

Re: question regarding year change in wheels
The January 1931 Service Bulletin shows the spacer plate I believe you guys are talking about. This plate was used on the early 1930 single rear wheel trucks with the scalloped type hubs to give the wheel some added reinforcement. The adapter plate was bolted to the hub using the inner nut designed ...

Hello Bob,
I have some of these, but I don't know what the shipping would be from PA to CA. I would like $40 plus the shipping.

Re: firestone rims
Although the split and solid lock rings can be physically installed on AA and BB wheels, they should not be interchanged. According to the July 1932 Ford Servcie Bulletins, the angle where the lock ring contacts the wheel is different on both styles. The split ring type uses a 70 degree notch in the...

Re: 1932 BB Chassis Number Decoder?
Steve,
Maybe I should have said, your engine was built in December 1932. There probably was some time until the engines were shipped to the various factories and installed in the chassis at which time the engine serial number was then stamped on the frame.

Re: 1932 BB Chassis Number Decoder?
Hello Ron, According to your frame number, BB724365, I believe your truck may have originally had a V-8. It falls into the March 1934 serial number range (697,188 to 771780). Is it possible that the engine could have been changed back to a 4 cylinder A or B engine? As Mr. Moore pointed out, Model A ...
