Re: posting pictures

I post pictures directly from my computer and don't need to put them on the Internet first. The pictures must not exceed the maximum size allowed on this site. If you try to post a picture which is too large, you get a error message.

Re: Wanted: 1931 AA Frame

Based on my research, you are correct with the measurements. The AA-5005-B frame was used through March 1931. Any of the B frames would work. However, the early '30 frames were designed for the '29 splash shields. So, the placement of the small shield "L" bracktes on the frame are in the w...

Re: ?total quantity of brake rods?

The AA157 has:

2 emergency brake rods (to the rear)
1 emergency brake rod from the brake lever
2 service brake rods (to the rear)
4 service brake rods (to the front)
1 service brake rod from the brake pedal

Re: How to remove the dual high?

Yes, the rear end must be moved back to free the drive shaft from the u-joint for all AA's with a standard coupling shaft or the dual high. Removing the engine/transmission does not help because the u-joint at the drive shaft is bolted to the output shaft of the dual high or standard coupling shaft....

Re: How to remove the dual high?

To remove the Dual High, the rear axle must be moved back so that the drive shaft pulls out of the u-joint and drops down a few inches. This is not an easy job since you need to disconnect the brake rods, remove the bottom half of the rear spring seat assemblies, jack up the frame high enough to lif...

Re: NEWSLETTERS / MEMBERSHIP , GREAT STUFF !

I am happy to hear AA'ers are getting usefull information from the newsletters. I see that I have five sets of back issues still on the shelf. It looks like I will have to go back to the printer for a reprint in the near future.

Re: AA truck parts wanted

For some reason, the TT express body is what usually turn up rather than the AA express body. With a fair amount of work, the TT can be converted to an AA (the wheel wells stamped into the sides would be the most difficult). Most conversions exclude the wheel wells. Some conversions just add an extr...

Re: Installing engine and trans

Like the A, the u-joints should be greased. For '28/'29 AA's with a 3-speed there are two u-joints. For '29-'31 AA's with a stock coupling shaft, there is one u-joint plus the male/female gears at the front of the coupling shaft which are to be greased.

Re: Installing engine and trans

I assume that there is a u-joint bolted to a 3-speed transmission or a male gear bolted to a 4-speed transmission. Getting the u-joint or male gear connected to the coupling shaft is about the same as getting an engine with transmission installed onto a model A drive shaft (not easy). I would jack u...

Re: Whats a 85% 1930 Stake Truck worth

For an unrestored truck to be worth 9k it would need to be in very excellent condition! Some pictures would be of value to look at. But, 9k sounds like too much for an 85% unit. It should have the correct Ford sold platform plus all stake racks parts (metal parts and wood good enough for patterns). ...

Hello s147881,
I still have the reproduction mirror assemblies (see ad in message above). They are excellant reproductions. The final set up for your truck will be like the picture below.

Re: Parts Needed - 28/29 Drivers Side Mirror

The 82-B cab started production in mid 1930 (like June or July) and was used until the end of production on commercial A's and AA's. All 82-B cabs used a hinge mounted side mirror bracket. The 82-A cabs did not come with hinge mounted side mirror brackets. The first AA mirror bracket for the 82-A ca...

Re: I need help with 29AA

The truck is not a 1930. It is most likely a 1929 given the '29 AA wheels on the '28/'29 front axle. If it is a late '29 then it would have a 4-speed transmisstion. From start of production in 1927 through mid 1929 the AA came with a 3-speed transmission with an optional dual high transmission. It i...

Re: I need help with 29AA

The first picture is of a early '30 AA. Note that the wheels are five spoke which are correct for '30.

The second picture is a '29 AA Stake truck. Note that the wheels are six spoke which is correct for '29. Both cabs are the 82-A closed cab used in '28 through about May/June of '30.
