Re: Play in Rear Spring Seat Assembly
You can learn a lot lurking here on others threads. I haven’t gotten to rear axle yet, but will likely find similar scenario. Have a broken rear spring to deal with also.

Re: Power Take Off
The ‘31 AA at the fire company near me has a separate unit behind the transmission to power the pump. I know the old Willys Jeeps were often used in creative ways with a PTO. I knew a fellow who powered a cane mill with one. I imagined the AA had the potential to be used similarly.

Re: Chassis serial numbers?
Thanks Keith, good information. I will look at the gearbox a little closer. I plan to pull it and go through it before the engine goes back in. So far it is the only thing that still has the original Ford green (under the grime). The clutch housing and all the motor accessories, oil pan etc.,. were ...

Re: Chassis serial numbers?
Ok, I see. Engine sn has no AA prefix so I assume it’s a replacement. It dates September ‘30. So far Budd wheels I’ve examined with the truck are all September ‘30 also. Who knows.

Chassis serial numbers?
When I pull cowl off my AA chassis, if there is a legible serial number, will it tell me anything? Such as assembly date and location or anything else?

Re: FAQ for AA dummies?
Sorry you were disappointed in the book I recommend. Your initial post suggested you were interested in physical dimensions and general data about the AA truck with which the book is replete. I found it fascinating. I just received a copy of the reprinted service bulletins today. This will be valuab...

Bang for the buck, performance.
Hypothetical question as I am nowhere near driving my project yet; I thought this might be a good discussion. Say I wanted to improve performance of my AA. What are some experienced opinions from AA and A drivers of what would be the most effective way to boost performance/power, and or top speed on...

Re: Rim Shell for 20 inch Tires
Someone posted on here about doing that but it looked pretty costly. I decided after doing a couple mounts on split rims myself, that as long as I could find enough good rims and wheels to stay original. Once you get a full understanding of the precautions needed the mounting is very easy. You could...

I would put the open ended groove toward the thrust bearing so it gets lube.
