Re: Finally acquired my '31 AA!
I removed my cab for painting and found my VIN number on the frame rail exactly where it is listed above. The problem is that my truck was a rusty wreck when I bought it. I had it restored and it was titled under the engine number that was not even a Ford number. After 30+ years, the cab needed pain...

Re: 31 AA speedometer driven gear
Snyder's Antique Auto Parts has them new. The part number is AA-17271-H and the cost is $84.00. Expensive till you look at what it cost to get one made. I did that about 30 years ago and at that time it cost me $125 to have it machined.

Re: Best Tire size for '31 AA LWB duals
I bought the 650 x 20s for my truck and I am regretting it. I had to put a spacer on the Budd nuts in the rear to give me enough distance to keep the rear tires from touching. I have no problem with the brake rods, but I wish I had purchased the 600 x 20 tires. I can fix this when I replace the tire...

Re: lifting cab off of frame
I did this to paint the cab. Unless your cab was kept in dry conditions, it is likely that the mirror trick will not work. My VIN was so faint it took several attempts by a CHP VIN expert to determine the number. Once is was decided. I painted the frame black with spray paint but left the part with ...

Help, 4 speed transmission parts needed
I have a 1931 AA truck with the 4 speed. I removed the shift lever to have it plated and I have misplaced two parts. I am unable to find them and need to purchase replacements. The parts I need are the rounded part and spring that is held in place by the threaded cap on the top of the transmission. ...

Re: advice on removing running boards and aprons
Hi Neil, Sorry for the incomplete information. This was originally a dump truck, but I got rid of the dump body and put on the stake bed. It has the left sidemount spare. The fenders have been removed and I have a fabricator making the well for the right fender. The frame is stamped for the right si...

advice on removing running boards and aprons
I have a 31 AA stake body truck. It was restored 30 or so years ago. I am adding a side mount spare on the right side and the fabricator needs the apron and running boards off the truck to put in the holes. (plus I want to repaint all the black before reassembly. I have looked under and inside the c...

Re: Indented Door for side mount
Thanks guys for all the great information. My door would hit the tire and to keep that from happening, the restorer added some washers to the door stop mechanism to keep the door from opening so much. I do not, nor do I intend to show my truck, but would like the indent so the door could open to it'...

Re: Indented Door for side mount
Thank you, my truck was originally a dump with the sidemount, but the door did not have the indent. I assume someone replaced the door at some time. When I got it, the truck was a basket case, so who knows what happened. I would like to find one to take measurements so I can have one fabricated for ...

Indented Door for side mount
Where there different shapes of door indents? I have seen photos of two distinctly different indents. One photo shows the indent with a the vertical cut perfectly straight an parallel with the indent "C shaped. The other photo looked more like a dent with the sides rounded. Can anyone explain t...

Re: 1931 AA side mount wanted
Thanks Bob, I got the parts from you and I think it is all going to come together. Now I just need to find an additional 5 hole disc wheel for this and then to the body shop for the fabrication of the fender well.
