Re: 32 AA stone guard

yea i think all the 30/31 (same for 28/29) radiators/shrouds are the same size except for the depth of the radiator on the AA when compared to a standard A...

1929 AA boy wrote:Armstrong .... using the strength of your arms to turn the crank ... kindof like the truck has no power steering it has Armstrong power
is this similar to the 455 A/C in some cars? :) other cars and pickups were equipped with 255 A/C haha

Armstrong steering is powered by spinach :)

Re: Spring pack dissassembled (lots of pics)

Stakebed, Your rear spring question - In 4/31, Ford moved the spring clamps to the #9 leaf. Consequently, leaves 8 and 9 are different from earlier spring leaves. Otherwise the leaves are the same. There are other differences in the complete assemblies from 1928 thru 1931. The April 2010 Double A'e...

Re: Truck Bed Pieces

Side note on the wood planks themselves: whats the purpose of the groove cut where the metal strips would sit? is this to keep the strips in a groove to keep the boards down? I noticed my bed had the grooves cut on both sides of the boards...Seems like a waste of time and manpower to cut grooves on ...

Re: Spring pack dissassembled (lots of pics)

Shorthaul - yea that should work, may not even have to be a bushing, a 1 1/2" iron pipe split may have a close enough curve to see the low spots. Quick question: Are the 28/29 rear spring packs the same as the 30/31's? Or did they change in 30 to something beefier for the dually wheel trucks? I...

Re: Mud Flaps?

could always get creative with a large cheap C clamp with a mudflap bracket welded to it to clamp it to something sturdy so for originality purposes they can be removable for photo ops/car shows and the like.

Re: Spring pack dissassembled (lots of pics)

Cool link! I took the other pack apart and had the very bottom leaf broken, yes the one with the eyes(cracked right thru the mounting bolt) and the one that sits right on top of it (2nd longest) cracked the same way. Same story as the pictured one with the center bolt broken all over. Lower u bolt p...

Re: Mud Flaps?

hmm ive thought about this too. on my 29 single rears i was thinking of making some sort of bracket that looks like the rear fender brace and drill holes thru the wood and have them mounted on an arm. This is much like modernish semi trucks where theres a tiangular beam that mimmicks a bookshelf bra...

Re: Newmarket, NH fire truck

yea once thier cracked thier junk and a ticking time bomb that will shoot thru the hood, radiator, etc. I would NOT want that going off near a crowd.

Im with the others - do not start the truck and immediately remove it and order a new one!

Re: It's finally spring!

Thanks Farrell! It's as close to the original Vermillion Red that we could find. Tried to keep it as original as possible, but that in itself is a learning process! Still needs some exterior cosmetic work done, but it runs really well and is fun to drive. Stakebed... Hope the weather clears up for ...
