1929 AA truck in a 1932 movie

The 1932 Mascot serial entitled The Devil Horse has been reissued. It heavily features a 1929 closed cab AA truck with tandem rear ends and a large rack body. Although it is missing the rear view mirror arm and center bumper clamp the truck is in excellent shape. The truck turns up in chapter one, s...

Re: AA welled fender

There's a Service Letter that addresses the dented door. In essence it says that the dented door is needed for 6.50 x 20 tires, but not needed for 6.00 x 20 tires. I'm at work and my Service Letters are at home. I know some models came exclusively with dented doors; on the other hand the 76B open ca...

Re: 28 Wheel studs

If you own an early 1928 stake truck that was converted to the later lugs you still need the 15/16 starting handle to raise and lower the spare tire bracket since the nut that holds the bracket in place cannot be run off, or maybe I'm missing something.

Another way to tell if a truck had a past life is to count the leaves in the rear spring. If there are 13 it was a panel or an express. Dump trucks and flat bed combinations have 16 leaves. However these trucks were overbuilt and 13 is plenty.

Since the horn/light rod is longer than the distance between the top of the steering column and the back of the cab it is wise to get the restored steering wheel and rod in place before you install the cab.

Go to the Library of Congress web site:http://lcweb2.loc.gov/pp/pphome.html. Type in CCC for Civilian Conservation Corp and scroll through. Several covered 1 1/2 trucks. Or you can search by call #LC-USW3-057026-C for a 1934/35 Chevy with a covered body for inspiration.

If you have the pre July 1929 AA truck with rear fenders you can't have a dumping stake body since the fenders are bolted to the body, splash apron and running boards. If you own a short running board AA a dumping stake body is possible. Depending on the make some frame must be lopped off. See Servic...
