Stakebed plans

I need to weld up a stakebed for my 157 inch '31. Who has some plans to help me avoid reinventing the wheel?

Re: Seat wood patterns

thanks Bob and Neil, The seat back and seat bottom had wood slats on the bottom inner perimeter when I bough the truck. Makes me wonder if the springs are for another vehicle. I see that the catalogs have different springs for the various Model A vehicles. Are there measurements specific for the pic...

Seat wood patterns

I'm needing to replace the wood on the seat springs for my '31 before I take them to the upholsterer. Is there a pattern for seat wood out there?

Re: For sale AA 1416 side mount flange

Neil and others, My 31 does not have the passenger side fender with the well for the spare, but I have access to such a fender. But, if I mount a spare tire, using your side mount flange, would I have to also find a passenger door with the indent? I have seen this indented door pictured on the drive...

Re: radiator cap removal

thanks everyone for offering advice. Bob C had the answer with the internal allen head screws. My original post stated an allen wrench didn't fit, but I used a larger size and got it to bite, but the screws wouldn't turn until the casting in the cap broke on one side. In the end, I twisted the cap j...

radiator cap removal

This may be the most rookie question of the month, but I can't figure out how to remove this radiator cap. The goal is to remove the radiator shell for restoration/painting. Is this radiator cap soldered on the neck of the radiator tank, or is it threaded? I'm hesitant to put a wrench on it. Looking...

Re: 31 hard top conversion

Thank you, Neil. The interior picture you posted shows a very clean inside with two metal support pieces. To make a fabric to steel conversion without those support pieces would be a challenge. Does anyone know where to buy those metal support pieces? The conversion piece of sheet metal I have found...

31 hard top conversion

I'd like to convert the cab on my 31 82-A to a hard top and therefore eliminate the fabric top. I found a company that sells the sheet metal to fit inside the original top. It's my understanding the late model 31's had a hard top option from the factory. Does anyone know if the hard top requires the...

I need those same measurements so I can make a shift lever, too. I have the Warford, but no shift lever.

hard top cab conversion

As I restore my '31, I'm considering a hard metal top instead of the fabric top. For my wet climate on the Pacific Northwest coast, I'd be hesitant to take the truck out for winter holiday events if it had the original style fabric top. Does anyone know of a business that makes a formed panel to rep...

Re: differential gear ratio

Thanks Chris. Only one problem: the speedometer cables are gone. So not only do I need to know the gear ratios of the three rear ends so I can choose the two I will use (two trucks to rebuild), but I'm assuming I will need to know the ratios to order the correct speedometer cables.

Now what?

differential gear ratio

I've learned AA's came with different gear ratio's in the differential. The higher speed rear ends were stamped on the outside. How does one find these stamps? I have three complete rear ends and two of them have stamps on the right side. I have included a picture of one of them. At this writing, I ...
