Re: Wheel stud and wheel nut
So then it is a '29, and it may be the original engine, as June '29 would be shortly before the 4 speed trannies were introduced.

Re: Maple floorboards
Crosscut, can you tell me the brand & part number of the bit used to cut the interlocking edges? Also what power tool did you mount that on?

Re: Maple floorboards
Nice job, crosscut! I like your dovetail interlocking joints like original, and the pegs inserted. Where did you get the cutters for the interlocking joints?

Re: Maple floorboards
Thanks Bob. Those ebay floorboards are fairly decent but they only have flat, glued together edges, not like the interlocking edge routing of the originals which used no glue. Originals also had pegs inserted to hold the boards together as well as the steel supports riveted to the underside. I have ...

Maple floorboards
Is anyone making & selling the original style maple planks that made up the original floorboards from 1928 to around mid-'29? They were made in the factory for wood products that Ford built in Kingsford Michigan, where Ford owned thousands of acres of woodlands nearby, where maple trees are very...

All A and AA serial numbers have a star in front and at the end.

Re: Differential substitutions for higher speed
I have had a couple high speed '30-31 differentials. One had the ratio tag on one of the bolts near the bottom. Another just had the ratio stamped on the case.

Re: Wheel stud and wheel nut
Good point Chris, but steering columns, like engines, are easily swapped. I had a '28 AA with a '30-31 steering column.

Re: Wheel stud and wheel nut
Kaboom you have an early 1930 truck with a replaced engine. Does your engine even have an "AA" serial number, or just "A"? Too bad you have not been able to view the correct original serial number for your truck that is on the frame.

Re: aa open cab truck
Yes roadster doors are the same, and you can just plunk down a bunch of $$$ and buy repops. I meant good luck finding original doors. Most of the guys in my Model A Club think I'm kinda obsessive about originality.

It's a '29 of course. Seems to be in Kansas. Good luck finding doors for it!

Re: Wheel stud and wheel nut
Kaboom, do the wheels on your truck have 5, or 6 handholes? That should resolve the confusion.

Re: Doors differences
So then, the only difference is the hinges, which can be easily changed? Neil, what do you say?

Doors differences
Can someone explain to me the differences between Model TT truck doors and '28-29 AA doors? Will the TT door fit a AA?

Re: Newer Drums
I had an early '32 AA truck that had cast iron drums all around.
As you know Ford switched to cast iron drums on A's later in 1931; apparently they then got around to it on AA's.
I have some extra AA brake drums (not cast iron) stored in Michigan. If anyone needs some, contact me.
