Re: Open Coupling Shaft
Well three years later I finally found the seal I was looking for, had to buy a whole dump truck carcass to get it. Came with engine, hydraulic dump bed, transmission with real good gears and PTO, four good wheels and best of all when I got it home I found it had four cast iron brake drums and a high...

Re: Coupling shaft housing
Good question. I looked at three I have, one with the gear on the transmission is mounted with the housing on the back side of the cross member. The other two have u-joints mounted on the transmission and one housing is mounted behind the cross member and the other one is mounted on the front side o...

Re: Need to identify chassis
I still say this is a 28-29 Canadian chassis. According to my Canadian parts book that rear axle was only used in 28-29 so
they did not use the humped cross member , they did not use the worm drive axle. Also notice the 28-29 headlight bar, and
the small front axle and brakes.

Re: Trouble with my new bus
Maybe someone added extra leaves to the spring. If you have two leaves together that are the same length that is probably what they did. On my 31 long wheel base somebody added three leaves to each spring. According to the Nov. 10, 1931 service letter the four bottom leaves of the new school bus spr...

Re: i would like to here comments on this 1930 roadster
It's a coupe not a roadster. I can't stand them with white wall tires and
all the accessories. Trunk, stone guard, step plates.

Also a worn pilot bearing in the flywheel can cause it to jump out of 4th.

Yes it's a 1930. It looks like he thinks it's worth well over $25,000 and a couple other people
think it's worth $8,000.

How many times have people found a problem when replacing a stripped timing gear, I think not very many.

Re: Distributor shaft stops turning
I think most people stick a rag between the two gears to lock them up. If you use another fiber gear don't use the one
with a metal hub and a fiber gear as they tend to come loose between the two different materials.
