Re: Emergency brake for 29

The parts book shows three different rods. 28-29 29 11/16", 1929 28", and 1929 with
4-speed 28 7/8"

Re: Mr Doodles is in the Hospital

I don't see any easy fix for the problem. What you need is a bearing retainer for the 4-speed that you can bolt a clam shell to, then move the dual high forward to mate up with the clam shell. The problem with moving the dual high forward is it will hit the brake cross shaft. Maybe you can make a sp...

Re: '30/'31 Axle - Grease Retainer?

Shelby, This is the seal that goes at the outside of the bearing race.
I don't know if my bearing race is out of round or the area where the
seal goes is oval but I get a measurement between 2.360 and 2.370.
If they have this seal let me know as I need some.

Re: '30/'31 Axle - Grease Retainer?

Neil, I looked at a couple of late 31 axle housings and they are not even machined
for a seal, the area where the seal is shown in the picture is tapered in my housings.

Re: Budd wheels and Dual wheels

JPP, The number on the frame is the number that was on the original engine. If the
engine number does not match the frame number then it has been replaced.

Re: Budd wheels and Dual wheels

If the engine was stamped in November then I think there is a possibility
it is a 1930.

Re: 1929 AA Stake Bed Truck for sale

It's a nice looking truck. How about putting it on Ebay with a reserve you can live with
and see were it goes. That would give you an idea of what people are willing to pay.

Re: Budd wheels and Dual wheels

If your wheels have 5 holes in the outer edge of the center (not lug nut holes) then you can run duals.
If they have 6 holes then no. Picture is 5 hole wheel.

Re: My Late 31/early32 AA US Postal Truck Frame Number.

Dave, I went around and around with the DMV over the weight certificate. I finally had to go to the library and copy the
page that shows 1936 and older trucks are exempt from weight fees in CA. Here is a link http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d03/vc9401.htm
