Re: Snyders antiquauto
Snyder’s and Bratton’s have both delivered excellent service and I could equally recommend both. Snyder’s seems to carry a few more AA specific parts. Occasionally one will be out of stock of a particular item and the other will have it.

Re: Direction of springs
Most threaded grease fittings are 1/8” pipe thread. All fittings on my ‘30 springs were not threaded- press in. Rear springs have a long and short side. If fittings on springs aim to rear they will be correct with long side to rear. Shackles are L/R, fittings to front I believe. Tapered frame or str...

Re: Rear spring shackle bushing?
Just finished with this on mine. Bolts and bushings in spring eyes well worn. Bolts in shackles useable with new bushings. Pins in rear spring eyes worn badly. Some heat and heavy hammer rule in old truck disassembly. I removed nut and lock washers on locking pin and put nut back on to hammer it til...

Re: leaf spring restoration
I took two front springs apart and picked best leaves from both and re-arched them and ground out all the wear divots and softened raw edges where they rub together on grinder. Cleaned and painted with Slip Plate graphite paint and reassembled with new bushings and hardware. I had a broken main leaf...

Re: tire wear on outside slight one side
My son’s car had bent wheel. Dealer had a guy with mobile shop in a trailer straighten them. Don’t know if they could do big truck wheels. Big truck shop maybe? My AA had a horribly bent front axle. I found a straight one.

Re: Rear axle question
I found the answer. The thrust shoe is mounted on a pin with countersunk head and is a straight press fit into left side housing. It is easily removed by driving it out from the outside.

Rear axle question
In the 30-31 bevel gear axle there is a bronze thrust shoe that acts against the backside of ring gear. Is there any adjustments to this apparatus? I am currently rebuilding my truck’s rear axle. I see procedures for adjusting pinion end play and backlash but curious about this thrust plate.

Re: What happens when a flat occurs
Nothing really. I had a rotten tire blow out when I aired it up to move my truck. The rims are safe with proper care. Don’t use a rim or ring badly rusted or damaged. Make a remote inflating device: 10 or 12 feet of air hose with clip on chuck and tee with gauge and ball valve on other end. Use a qu...

Re: AA jack
Thank you. I picked up a good working jack. Dimensions identical to latest style listed for AA. Assuming it wasn’t from an AA. Can’t find any Ford script markings, plus it isn’t correct for ‘30, but it is nearly contemporary and useable condition. Will do till a better comes along. I can make a hand...
