Re: looking to buy 4 speed bipartable ujoint or interm. sha

i did a search under sa 7092 and found what i was looking for. it sure confirms your numbers you gave me. i was assuming the u joint was the original. your numbers make sense. this u joint was made for putting a four speed in a model a car. so i guess my bearing retainer will work. thank you for the...

Re: looking to buy 4 speed bipartable ujoint or interm. sha

thank you for information. i went and checked my mystery u joint. it is SA 7092 anyone familiar with this? it fits on the output shaft of a four speed and then slides on the intermediate shaft for the original 3 speed that came in the truck. it has a worm drive rear end of course and a u joint on ea...

Re: looking to buy 4 speed bipartable ujoint or interm. sha

hey thanks for input. my ujoint fits on the out put shaft of my four speed. i just could not bear to look at the wrong u joint housing cover brazed to the rear of the transmission. i will get the number off the u joint tonight. it would be great if it proves true that the original 3 speed driveshaft...

Re: looking to buy 4 speed bipartable ujoint or interm. sha

funny question. i was looking at my pile of assorted parts and came up with an idea. the u joints you have in your photo made me think. i wonder if the u joint that was originally on the truck with the 3 speed would work with the u joint cover for the splittable u joint? the u joints seem to be simi...

looking to buy 4 speed bipartable ujoint or interm. shaft

i have a 31 intermediate shaft with a well worn u joint. any leads on where to get one? i could also use my 1930 intermediate shaft that has a drive gear that bolts to transmission output shaft. gear is in good shape but end of shaft that receives it is worn. so if you have a u joint or interm. shaf...

Re: Fuel Filter Flow Problem

maybe your float valve sticks closed once in a while and will not allow fuel to flow? who knows, i would check the needle valve.

1931 split UJoint coupler shaft, compatible with worm drive?

i have a 31 split Ujoint coupler shaft from a 4 speed. my 28 aa now has a four speed and the original worm drive rear end. this 31 coupler does slip onto my splined shft to the rear end. the 1931 service bulliten announces this new shaft for fords with 4 speeds and bevel rear ends. has anyone ever u...

hey thank you for the photo. yes, it sure does say bevel gear at top. i guess i will not be able to employ this great update with a worm drive. thank you. kevin

Re: interesting couplingshaft found on 31AA anyone know abo

i am wondering if this special shaft will work with a 28 worm drive rear end. i think someone told me once it only works with bevel gear rear end. any ideas out there? thank you, kevin

interesting couplingshaft found on 31AA anyone know about?

i have two AA dump trucks. i was not sure of years 30 or 31. i took intermediate shaft out of one and found a gear that bolts on output shaft of the 4 speed. the next truck i took apart has a u joint on the back of the 4 speed. this must be the unique set up that is discussed on page 27 of jim schil...
