Re: '29 AA Duals vs Singles

Thanks, one and all. I'm learning fast. I ran in to much the same thing in the early days of my '24 Dodge. Parts are interchangeable over quite a span of them, too. Can hardly wait to find the right AA and get in to it's history. JPB

Re: '29 AA Duals vs Singles

I would like to say Welcome to the Forum. The rear end on the dual wheels had the bevel gear rear end. With 5-spoke, "Bud" wheels. The single rear end was the worm gear rear end with the 6-spoke rims. Do you have any pics of your truck. Can you post them. I have the 1929 AA 8-30-29. Thank...

'29 AA Duals vs Singles

Good evening AA people. Two questions, please: I read that late '29 AA Stakesides could be had with dual rear wheels. Did that one have the same rear end as the single wheel model? In other words, would it be proper to remove one and run that one with single rear wheels? My second question is, shoul...

Re: New Member

Time will tell if this is the the end of the trail or there is a "rest of the story". Thanks, one and all. I'm certainly grateful to have been steered to this group and forum.
Now . . . which of you has this truck gathering dust in the back of the barn?

I'm trying, BrianT!! I got your message yesterday and thought I'd answered it. Apparently I haven't found the right combination yet. Maybe this one will get through.

Re: New Member

Hey, Gang: Interesting thread! I've got a 1951 California license plate. On the left end of it is a "C" over a "O" that's over a "M". This meaning "commercial". Below the "M" is "19" for 1951. "51" is at the lower right corner of...

Re: New Member

I've been back to the better picture with a magnifying glass and can't do any better. Still looks like ? 2 2 W, but I wouldn't bet the farm. Perhaps with a high def monitor? Anyway, thanks for the DMV publication. My personal paying attention to license plates on our equipment probably dates to arou...

Re: New Member

1941 California license plates were black with yellow letters, obviously not the plate on the truck. In 1942 a yellow "tag" was bolted on all the way across the top of the '41 plate. In '43 a steel tag was added on the upper right of the '41 plate with a "V" on it. In '44 the re...

Re: New Member

OK, mystery solved. ModelAkid wins the rusted out Franklin tail light shell. This is a family affair. My sister ran down my niece who has the original photo and she just resent it at highest resolution. On this one I can clearly see the "47" on the plate. I can also see myself a lot cleare...

Re: New Member

BTW JPB, that's a great photo of your grandpa and the '29 AA. It's a great example of the amazing loads that little 4-banger could haul around. Grandpa must have really liked that truck, he seems to have kept it in real good shape. It would be neat if you could find an old registration with the ser...

Re: New Member

"I'll quit with just one beginning question. The picture was taken in 1945, I think, and the front license plate is plainly visible." I happen to have a 1946 truck in California and I found a 1945 commercial license plate with the metal '46 tag on it at a garage sale. I thought half of th...

Forum Instructions

Evenin' folks. New guy question: are operator instructions for this forum available? I wasted an hour last night, ultimately failing to post a reply to a question. My hobbies include old trucks. My hobbies do not include computers and forums. It's probably some small thing keeping me from posting a ...
