Re: WTB 29 AA dshaft roller bearing, sleeve, speedo gear
It's a low speed but I really just need the gear to keep the bearing in place.

WTB 29 AA dshaft roller bearing, sleeve, speedo gear
I'm looking for the front roller bearing, sleeve and a speedo gear for a 29AA. Parts shown on the photo, less the actual driveshaft.

Re: Driveshaft bearing
Thanks for the feedback and sorry for the delayed response. I've been searching for the bearing and bearing sleeve through the normal vendors, Brattons, Berts, etc. with no success. Is there a source a for these parts somewhere? I'll post a LTB for the speedo gear.

Re: Driveshaft bearing
Thanks guys, looks like I need to find some parts but at least not the speedo parts. Hopefully, there will be a lot less banging with the roller bearing installed.

Driveshaft bearing
My 29 did not come with a front drive shaft bearing or any speedometer components. Apparently, it was operated this way for may years. Piecing together forum threads, my understanding is that from back to front there is a split ring, then a grease seal facing forward, and the roller bearing. Is this...

Re: Vintage Manual Tire Changer!
Cool piece of history. Nice to know where we can go to get tires mounted now.

Re: Tolerance for u-joint
Wow, great. Thank you both. I'm glad I asked. One side is perfect then and the other side is only slightly loose. I just need to find a thrust bearing then and I'll be able to put the back end back together with the new torque tube and rods provided by Stakebed (thanks again Tom)

Tolerance for u-joint
I have been trying in vain to find a replacement for my 6-10 spline u-joint for a 29 AA. It seems to have a lot of side to side play but now I'm wondering if that may be normal, or close enough. It slides 3/16". Is that perhaps within operating specs? Thanks, Bob

Re: Bent torque tube on 29 88-A
Thanks everyone, we did manage to finally get it off. Turns out at some point, presumably when the pin dropped resulting in the bump, the drive shaft was welded to the coupler (not sure what it's actually called) in place of the pin. Both the tube and driveshaft are not straight. Looks like with a n...

Re: Bent torque tube on 29 88-A
I can't get the torque tube off an unless I'm missing something it appears to be related to the bump in the tube shown in the photo. Can someone please confirm that bump is not supposed to be there. I certainly don't want to cut the torque tube off if it's unnecessary. Thanks.

Re: Bent torque tube on 29 88-A
Good thought, thanks. Just checked and the front axle is nice and straight.

Re: Bent torque tube on 29 88-A
We wondered about that bump in the tube. It seems factory made but with no obvious purpose. We're going to pull the tube off this weekend and try and confirm it's bent. Since it's not a perfect taper it's hard to tell for sure. I measured the springs and they appear ok. The distance between the fron...

Re: Bent torque tube on 29 88-A
Thanks for the welcome and replies. I'll check out the springs tonight. Regarding the radius rods, assuming they are what connects the rear axle to the front of the torque tube they have been cut off and replaced with I-channel stock, what looks to be a very long time ago. I thought they were instal...
