Re: New member, new to the AA's
I would suggest that you check that your high-low is engaged in either of the speeds and is not in between gears. If it has not been moved in a while, it could be hard to move without breaking things. Oil and massage back and forth and it should free up eventually. If you can't wait on the High-Low,...

Re: New member, new to the AA's
Hi Josh, welcome to the hobby. The first thing I would recommend is cleaning off the serial number on the frame and taking a picture of it. The AA club has instructions as to where it is and approx. when it was built. You will find this very valuable for every part you buy. Next join the AA club and...

Re: Rear hub bearings
Jeff, If your hubs and bearings are so bad, you might want to check the bottom of the wheel bearing surfaces on your axle housing. The tops and sides are usually OK unless they have been submerged in water, but the bottom takes all the load. If you need to repair the axle housing bearing surfaces, y...

Re: Garage door height?
Luke, my 28 measures 80" to the rear top center of the cab. That is an absolute minimum. I always considered door height to be like beauty or money in the bank- you can't have too much of a good thing. Will you ever want to put this or another truck on a trailer so you are ready to go first thi...

Re: Rear Axle Spindle Threads
I am glad you have the axle threads situation under control. If it ever causes you problems in the future, you might consider checking with a mobile axle repair guy. You can usually find them by checking with a large truck or trailer repair facility (not the kind where nobody has any grease on their...

Re: AAparts
I bought an old Ford factory stake bed and got all the parts I needed and then some for $40. You might have to drill out some of the rivets they used to mount the boards but you can fill the rivet holes in the stakes and put your boards at the correct heights for your model year bed. I believe the n...

Re: ccpu door bumper placement
Are these the ones on the cab wood where the back of the door contacts the door post? If so, tell me exactly what pictures you want and send me your email address. It takes me too long to put pictures on the forum.

Re: EXPRESS BED FENDER BRACKETS
If the express bed rear fender brackets and the stake bed rear fender brackets are the same, I would be interested depending on price.

Re: Assembling wheels
I have always made sure the lock ring and wheel lock groove are clean and I have the wheel bolted firmly to the vehicle hub (vehicle jacked up) when first filling one of these tires. I only use a hose extension when I fill them so I can be out from under the vehicle and behind the plane of the ring....

Re: Driveshaft bearing removal
Billy, The way I just did a couple of mine is based on the way the car bearing surface removal is done only our worm gear rear ends require everything to be a little bit larger. The process goes like this: Find a socket that will just clear the ID of the seal holder, put the socket over the end of y...

Re: BB 5:17 gears fit in 31 AA low speed axle?
Bob, thanks for your reply but my question is can the BB 5.17 gears be put in the existing 31 AA 7.25 housing. Some have said the BB gears can be put on the AA carrier, but I want to get this information first hand. It's a lot of wasted work if it can't be done.

Can 28 Dual High be removed without moving engine?
I have the rear axle out of my 28 AA. Can I remove the Dual High for service without moving the engine or 3 speed trans forward?
