Re: 31 rear axle seals
I found no inner seals on mine unlike the Model A, just the outer seals around the outer end of the axle tube. One rear end I pulled down was over filled with lube which seaped into the brake drum. This drum came off easily. The other ones.....not so much. I have suspected the trans missions have be...

Re: AA tire mount?
Never saw that type on a AA before..........Looks wel made though.
If you could figure out what lug pattern it will fit, that would be a clue.
Kind of looks military to me.

Re: Dumb question but ill ask anyways.
I started with the the front axle, then engine, trans, rear suspension, then rolled the rear end onto the U-joint. Next was the Brake rods, Muffler, rad, and a temp fire wall to test all before going on. Once the bugs have been chased out, the Front fenders/aprons can go on followed with cab and what...

Re: Door handle.
This looks exactly like the Tee Handle on my 28 Special Coupe's Rumble seat. Took an eon to find it, and then have it repaired to work. The only difference is that the end of the shaft is threaded on mine.

Re: Floor mats?
Seems there is a bit of interest.
Any of you guys close to Brattons and feel like giving Jeff a call?
"Just give us a call and talk to Jeff"
I know I would need one.

Floor mats?
I have not seen floor mats sold for the AA TRuck but I could be wrong about availability. A recent discussion on the Barn caught my eye. The originator was asking for a blank, no hole mat, so he could cut his own to fit a later transmission adaptation. One of the last Posts was from Mr. Bratton: &qu...

Re: Tow truck is com ring together but I need help
I know the frames were routinely cut for the dump trucks, so why not the Tows? Ideally the weight distribution would put enough on the axles to prevent lift at the steering, but with those big springs on the AA cantilevered as they are, it may be an issue. Looking at restored service trucks it looks...

Re: Tow truck is com ring together but I need help
I have often thought about where the ideal spot to mount it would be. I would think it would need to be far enough back that the rear end of the frame rails did not interfere with the towing operation. Cograts on your find, I am jealous!

Picture # 1 of the second batch, is that a plaque riveted on the rear face of the rear most crossmember or just a patch?
Very elaborate system..........must have cost a bit back in the day. Looks like a very specialized truck.

Re: Automatic wipers
Odd! I thought that if your car was equipped with original equipment [hand wiper] then that would pass. I just read of a hot rodder in BC having to have a heater/defroster in his 31 What gives with these inspectors?? :x Den I agree with you Den, but in my case the truck came with a vacuum wiper. I ...

Re: Automatic wipers
Chris, as noted the 28-29s mostly came with the hand operated wipers. Cannot remember when in 29 the vacuum wipers were made available. If you are like me the vacuums are not much of an option. I live in a province that gets enough rain annually to drown a parking meter. I have been modifying electr...

Re: Down Shifting
Should be running 600w in the transmixer. Rev that four banger up good and try slipping her into a lower gear. Consider your road speed as well, she not going to want to down shift or up-shift if its not time. I would try practicing on a fourth to third down shift before starting in the basement gea...
