Re: Missing Something?

I believe I have the answer to my question. This is the area I was concerned about. I am assuming the inner seal is there but I am not going to take the axle apart to find out. Not sure why there is grease in the brake area but I will clean it up as best I can and get it back together and check it ag...

Re: Missing Something?

Bob, thank you. Glad I popped the rear drums off to check things out.

Re: Missing Something?

Thanks for the reply. I did clean off the bearing race of grease and the hub has the seal. It seems there should be a seal pressed in at the end of the bearing race where the axle shaft comes out. You can see in the photo that grease or rear end lube is dripping out under the axle and the axle is fr...

Missing Something?

While inspecting my rear brakes I noticed a lot of grease splattered around and on the brake shoes. Am I missing a seal where the axle protrudes from the diff? Or is the seal part of the wheel bearing on the brake drum assembly? Thanks. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc57/methos109/Truckshow069....

Galion Dump Bed

Galion Dump Bed with carriage, hinge pin and brackets. I believe its complete. Bed is rusty and pitted. Pin hole in one corner. No other rust through. Tailgate looks good. Dump gearing appears to be in very good condition. $800.00 http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc57/methos109/Sunapee020.jpg http...

Re: New AA Owner

Thanks again for the welcomes and yes I will have lots of questions. Just checked the rear brakes and greased up the hub bearings yesterday. Would like to put some miles on the truck before the winter. Plenty to do before that happens.

spdway1...great looking truck. :D

Re: New AA Owner

PS: I appreciate knowing I can squeeze one on to that size u-haul. How did it balance and trail on the highway? the bigger question is what did he tow it with? u haul thinks you need a diesel dually pickup to tow anything it seems. This is the tow rig. The pickup was brand new with 175 miles on it....

PS: I appreciate knowing I can squeeze one on to that size u-haul. How did it balance and trail on the highway? Funny you should ask. It was bit of a harrowing ride really. It would sway quite badly above 45 mph. I realized the truck should have been backed on due to the weight of the...

New AA Owner

I recently joined this forum and wanted to introduce myself to the group. I have been searching for an old pickup truck for quite sometime and I wanted one that was running and driving and not a long term restoration project. Pre-war would be nice but I was looking up to 1965 and whether it was a Ch...
