Re: Solid Front Bumper?

Veger:

Does your VIN only begin with a single "A"? Truck engines and frame rails were stamped with "AA" at the beginning of the VINs. If your engine has a single "A", then it's, most likely, a replacement engine taken from a Model A car or pickup.

Re: Paint colors and model a restoration books

jjbus2000: More than likely, your truck was Rock Moss Green. Yes, the chassis, fenders, running boards, running board splash aprons, radiatior splash apron and the radiator shell would have all been painted black. Rock Moss Green with the black was a very common color scheme for the AA's. There are ...

Re: Original old Ford truck film advertising

Keith:

A high-lift coal body, huh? Wow! That's a unique body. How high do you suppose it lifts? How high would the bottom of the bed be above the ground when lifted as high as it can go?

Get 'er done!
Thanks,

Re: AA speedometer gear

All: Years ago, I had a driveline (torque tube) that still had the speedometer gear mounted inside of it. It was a good gear because I had removed it to see what condition it was in. I put it back into the driveline. I must have set the drivelind down too hard because it broke a tooth off of the spe...

Re: Original old Ford truck film advertising

All:

I've seen a still photo or two of AAs with scissor-lift beds mounted on them, but I've never actually seen one or have heard of any left in existence. Have any of you seen or know of any that are left?

Re: 1931 AA Truck from the MAFCA Site

BrianT, spectria: You guys are quite knowledgeable about AAs. What do you guys think about ModelAkid's truck and all the info he's provided concerning it? Have you gents seen many AAs in this original condition on the road? I have not. I value your opinions. ModelAkid: That's really cool that you ma...

That was fantastic! So, who do I contact about ordering a fleet of that 3-way dumptruck?

Re: 1931 AA Truck from the MAFCA Site

flatford39: My appologies if my contacting ModelAkid has annoyed you. If I've broken AA Forums etiquette, I'm unaware of it and will cease and desist. ModelaKid's AA is a nice old truck. I was hoping to generate some interest in it. I dig on seeing what others have to say about vehicles. Sincerely, ...

Re: 1931 AA Truck from the MAFCA Site

ModelAkid: You told me in an email that the engine was built in Jan. 1931 and the wheels are stamped Feb. 1931. You said it's an early '31. But, is it the original engine? Has it ever been rebuilt? How many miles are on the truck? If the engine was rebuilt, how many miles are on the rebuild? Thanks,...

Re: 1931 AA Truck from the MAFCA Site

ModelaKid:

What can you tell me about the bed fences? Are all of the stakeposts original? Does your truck have the post with the pin that locks? Have any of the wooden slats been replaced?

Thanks in advance!

Re: 1931 AA Truck from the MAFCA Site

ModelaKid: Thank you for answering my questions so promptly and honestly. Yeh, the 4-speed AA transmissions sure aren't the same as out of some fancy race car! It's cool that they have a reverse gear lever. Definitely makes the statement, "I'm a TRUCK!!!". Installing new rear axle seals is...

ModelaKid:

In what kind of shape are the brakes? Does this old girl stop well?

Does the transmission shift well into all gears, including reverse?

Re: 1931 AA Truck from the MAFCA Site

ModelAkid:

Yes, the adapter would allow access to the clutch-disc too without having to pull the engine.

I agree with you about the 1 1/2-ton rating being rather conservative.
