Re: It's finally spring!
Thanks Farrell! It's as close to the original Vermillion Red that we could find. Tried to keep it as original as possible, but that in itself is a learning process! Still needs some exterior cosmetic work done, but it runs really well and is fun to drive. Stakebed... Hope the weather clears up for y...

Re: Original Rubber Floor Mat for 1930/31 AA 82B Cab
And, I just read in the Ford Bulletin for June 1931 (page 569) that they came out with one generic mat for service replacement to eliminate the need to carry different replacement mats for the various years and models. They show the dotted lines where to cut out for the different models as needed an...

Re: Original Rubber Floor Mat for 1930/31 AA 82B Cab
Hi Neil, If I am correct, it looks like they used the same mat for both cabs, and cut the hole bigger for the AA shifter tower (and accessories), right? That is basically what I have been doing over the years. I have never read anywhere of a separate mat for the 82B AA's, so I just wanted to be sure...

Original Rubber Floor Mat for 1930/31 AA 82B Cab
Does anyone have a photo of an original rubber floor mat that Ford used in their AA trucks for the 1930/31 82B cabs? I know you can purchase the generic one for the 82B A cab. Was there a specific mat used in the AA's or did they modify the ones used in the A's like we have to do today? Thanks! Mark...

Re: tail light and door info
I just replaced what was in there, but don't know what the original bolt/washer/nut combo was. I believe mine were coarse thread bolts, lock washers and nuts.

Re: tail light and door info
Thank you, Neil, for the correction on my setup! I guessed on the shield placement since my original one was missing. I knew you would have the answer. Yeah, it was converted to a dump truck for a while (back in the day), then back to a platform.

Re: tail light and door info
Hope these pictures help! Hard to get a good shot, so I included a picture of an extra bracket I have. Neil, could you post a picture or drawing of where the tail light conduit goes from the back of the light to or through the frame of a 1930/31 Platform AA? I've seen it go through the hole, or up a...

Re: tail light and door info
From what I have read, unless the truck left the factory as a "Deluxe" model, the headlights and taillights were pained black with stainless bezels. Both my 1930 A pickup and '31 AA truck have black head and tail lights with stainless bezels.

Re: Dual Wheel - Tire side wall clearance
I have those same tires on my '31 platform truck. The spacing is very tight and is a concern of mine as well. I always make sure the air pressure is correct before driving because if it is a little low, they look like they will rub together! Also, the front tires rub the brake rod when turning sharp...

Re: bevel rear end
I too was confused until I realized you can't see the drive shaft due to the torque tube! Makes sense now! Thanks for the info.
