Truck progress photos

Hi all, Been working steadily on my 29 work truck. The manual hoist is all rebuilt and mounted on the truck . 20171015_104527e.jpg 20171015_104509e.jpg My engine block was pretty worn out so decided to try machining it myself to get it back to working order . This involved line boring on my lathe fo...

Wanted - Universal Joint

Hi, I need a universal joint to connect a Warford auxiliary transmission to my driveshaft. Thought I had one but have only got two halves and one is riveted so cannot join them. Sizes of the splines that I need are as follows: Short End (Warford) 6 splines 1.175" and 1.055" internal diamet...

Warford support /bearing retainer casting

Hi, Would anyone have a spare bearing retainer and rear support casting for a Warford auxiliary transmission? It is the piece with the multiple 'keyways" that slide into the support bracket on the frame cross member to take the weight of the rear of the transmission. It also retains the rear ou...

Thanks Dave, I thought it would be. The axle seems to be perfectly straight but who knows!

Re: Rear hub bearings

In this continuing saga, this weekend I finally got to cleaning all the gunk off my rear axle housings and found one of the bearing surfaces was pretty badly pitted - see photo 20170521_152214.jpg . Is this beyond use? Or do I need to find another housing with a better bearing surface - and are they...

Re: Rear hub bearings

Strangely, when I finally got it off, there didn't seem to be any rust so not sure what was holding it. The axle actually looks good. I left the 30 ton jack on it overnight and kept tapping it with a hammer but it didn't budge. So I heated it with the gas torch as quickly as I could so the hub got h...

Re: Rear hub bearings

Thanks Dave, I'll take a good look at the housing when I get everything apart. This thing is fighting me all the way but hope to finish dismantling in the coming weekend. One side was full of oil where the seal had given up, and the other side is rusted up!

Wanted - speedometer drive gear

Would anyone have a speedometer drive gear (the one that goes on the drive shaft) for a 5.14 ratio 30/31 rear end. I think the part number is
AA-17285-H.

Thanks

Rear hub bearings

So I finally popped the remaining hub off my 30/31 rear end with the help of a 30 ton jack, some heat and some good heart medicine, but the outer bearing race in it is a real mess - grooves worn in it where the rollers have been running and badly pitted. Is it possible to get the outer races for the...
