Re: Ugly Steering Wheel Contest

Now I would never claim to be an expert! Having said that, my opinion is that the 1930/31 steering wheels are the same. My early 30 AA had the keyed wheel, same as a 1931. If you have a copy af Mac's 2011 catalog, look on page 31. Good discription of the different wheels. Hope this helps, Bill James

Re: Ugly Steering Wheel Contest

I bought a nice one on E-bay. You see'em on there all the time. Some at reasonable prices, and some ridiculous. I think I paid $30 for mine. Remember they changed in design from year to year. Bill james

Dr. Frank, back on the road!

I took old Dr. Frank for a drive around the neighborhood, what a beast!! Sure will be nice to get a seat in there, that wood bench just aint right. If the weather is OK, I plan on taking him to the local cruise in tomorrow. The clutch works now and the transmission is much quieter. I hear a clucking...

Re: Transmission Oil

I have never been able to find that answer. So, while I had the top off my 4 speed, I filled it up to the bottem of the side plug. Held 5 pints. When I get a chance I'm going to drain the diff, flush it with coal oil, and measure how much it takes to fill to the side plug. I'll post my results. Bill...

top end lubricator?

Ever now and then I see an accessory on e-bay called something like a top end lubricator, or cylinder lubricator, I forget now just what they call them. the pictures look like a jar and some means of inducing oil into the intake manifold :?: Has anyone any experience with them? Or maybe just more ca...

Re: Welt for bottom edge of roof

I agree with you Barney, the cowl welt is the same as fender welt only with a smaller bead. The windlace is the weather bead that goes in the interior. I havn't started my interior yet so I would be interested in just where the windlace goes too. My cab is the early 30, same as the 1928/29 cab. I'm ...

75 years old and still learning!!

OK, I may have mentioned before, I'm working on my 1930 AA grain truck, known as Dr. Frank. As in Dr. Frankenstien. The clutch was not working to say the least, so while you got it apart you rebuild the transmission and rebush the rear suspension. The clutch area was full of dirt, maybe been under w...

Re: Welt for bottom edge of roof

I can't find the size of the bead on the Vinal Windlace in the catalog or in there on line catalog. I think the wind lace has about a 1/2" foam rubber core :?: The price of the A9000 cowl welt is much cheaper. I'll take a picture of mine and post it tomorrow. Bill James

Another mystery about my 1930 grain truck, Dr Frank

I'm in the middle of rebushing Dr. Franks rear suspension, and notice the pivot brackets are bolted to the frame rather than riveted. Not only that, they used some kinda belting material between the bracket and the frame. The bracket on the left side is spaced out about 1/2" from the frame, and...

Re: More dumb ?

Yes Sir, I see the difference between the car and truck u-joints, I guess my question is, will the parts kit listed by the vendors, for the car type, fit the 10 spline AA u-joint? I can't find the AA type joint, or kit, listed by the vendors. The "Parts price list", lists a kit, AA-7084, a...
