Out here scrap iron is about $200 a ton for prepared steel, so you won't be enhancing your pension by much. Good luck though.

Re: Where to start looking.
Did you put a new condenser in it when you changed to distributor? Wondering if it could be the condenser acting up when it gets warm? Just another thought.

Pictures are always good. Where are you located, someone may be able to go with you to help you identify the chassis.

Re: Dang it was tough removing the nuts on piston rods.
It's funny because I thought that a 17mm socket was pretty darn close to the 21/32 size of the connecting rod nuts. I do remember taking a flathead V8 apart and they were a weird size. Good idea to check out swap meets and flea markets, I've found miscellaneous sockets and such at them.

Re: Dang it was tough removing the nuts on piston rods.
Good luck finding a 21/32 socket at Sears. Almost guaranteed they won't have any. I'm pretty sure that they stopped making them. You'll probably have to find someone with an old set that has a socket. You could try Snap-On. I got a 9/16 * point socket there because I couldn't get one anywhere else. ...

So what you're saying is that I shouldn't call that guy to go take a look at the truck? I thought that it was a great price! Except not. It is a nice looking truck though.

I would guess that it was made to either adjust the worm or remove the worm easier? Maybe the original broke and they happen to have that and it fit? I have seen the rear cap on a worm drive rear end break and then the worm coming out of the rear end, it was pretty wild. I have also seen a worm driv...

What is the center hole size on the rims that are on the truck? I was thinking that the rim looked a little wide. I would have to say that it's a V8 rim.
