no lights, barely a horn?
i'm trying to think of where/what has gone wrong here. granted i haven't run the engine in this experiment (too much stuff stored around it that could fall in!), i've been working on getting the horn and lights working. i have been able to get a half-second toot out of the horn, and then can only he...

Re: Stop Light Switch Adjustment
would love to see pics of the spring setup. i'm trying to put mine together from scratch. not sure if the light is supposed to be on in the "pulled" position or off. haven't even gotten it working yet, so i dunno. haven't gotten any of the lights working yet, for that matter. i mounted it ...

Re: Film footage of AA's
is there any reason why people have to pay for public domain anything these days? is that even legal?! that's like having to pay a dollar to use a penny from the tray at a gas station.
i downloaded the watermark ones, but still.

Re: Rust in gas tank problem
i cleaned out my tank with acid and a hose. that's nasty stuff... if your respiratory system is sensitive, be sure to wear a mask; even if outdoors. got it sparkly clean, though, but i'll have to do it again when i get some tank sealer due to the flash rust. if anyone has any tank sealing tips or al...

Re: several random fixerup questions
Your fuse doesn't happen to bridge between the battery & the starter armature, does it?... i did what the instructions told me. one wire is on the starter button where the battery cable also sits, the other wire connects to the left terminal in the box. thing is, though, this was working fine b...

Re: several random fixerup questions
disconnected the wires to the cutout. i didn't care too much about hooking the lights up again, since that part isn't ready yet. sure enough, the yellow striped wire that goes to the terminal box is the problem.
now what are my options? new cutout? install a diode in mine?

Re: 30-31 aa truck spedo cabel WILL TRADE
actually, i found a 81.5 inch keyed speedo inner cable that i'd trade for a squared one of the same length. Dave, how much are you looking to get for yours? Which one? Neither of mine are that length. i was asking for anyone who may be interested. but i'm also curious if the 84 inch may work. maybe...

Re: several random fixerup questions
1. i'm using bussman fuses. is 15A correct? the thing is, it was operating and starting just fine for a few days, then suddenly popped every fuse since without making any wiring changes. i hear the sparking when i attach the negative battery cable; that may be where i'm getting the overload (what i ...

several random fixerup questions
i'm going to throw this all into one post instead of cluttering the board. 1) i've got one of those aftermarket fuse assemblies that mounts on the starter. i'm popping fuses when i connect the battery. i made sure every wire is isolated and isn't touching anything foreign. even disconnected the head...

you could also use a retired crock pot instead of a pot on the stove. that's what i've done.

Re: Repair of horn/light switch rod.
it's my understanding that you can't and have to buy a new rod. i understand the frustrations... i prefer an original, worn switch that works perfectly over a shiny new one. i've ruined a couple rods because of something in the shaft damaging them (i'm betting a steering wheel woodruff key), but i w...
