Re: Need PTO for 1928 AA with 3-speed/2-speed set up
I put an ad on Fordbarn for the 4-bolt PTO. Some man from London, England says he has one, $205 ups next day. I hope this is for real. He wanted western union but I replied "Visa" so I would have some recourse if I never received. I've been looking on and off for several years to find one,...

Re: Help with ID
It was common practice back in the day to rebuild a Model A engine and then restamp it to match the car or truck it was going in to. I have seen this myself. Recall that the engine number was on the title and when a person put in a rebuilt they needed it to match their title. So the machinist scratc...

Re: Need PTO for 1928 AA with 3-speed/2-speed set up
Thanks to Bud, I now have pictures. The TT guy from the business card says he never saw one. So I am back to asking if anyone can send me in the right direction.
By the way, I have enjoyed this forum. A club just for AA's! Never thought I'd see that. Thanks guys!

Re: Need PTO for 1928 AA with 3-speed/2-speed set up
First, thanks for all the responses. The PTO that everyone is talking about is for the Four Speed Transmission. Recall that Ford did not put a 4-Speed in the 28-29 AA trucks. They had the three speed, and as an option, the two speed auxillary. That two speed auxiliary transmission has a four bolt co...

Re: Need PTO for 1928 AA with 3-speed/2-speed set up
I tried the e-mail on the card. Says he doesn't think he's ever seen a four bolt (?)
Any luck on those pictures of a 4-bolt PTO? I have yet to see one myself, but have two 6-bolt PTO's.

Re: speeds
My 1928 AA with a "B" stamped differetial housing does about 38-40 at a steady pace. By the chart that around 2200 rpm. The old truck doesn't seem to have much more than that to give me, unless it's down hill!

Re: Wanted. Dual Drive, Oil and Dipstick
I have a question. I have the factory installed two speed auxillary transmission that has a low, nuetral and a direct drive. It has a dip stick under the seat and the double action foot pedal.
What would a "dual high" be and what is a "Warford".

Re: tire size
I put 6.00 x 20 front, 6.50 x 20 rear, singles. I wanted to be authentic but still be able to haul heavy loads.

Re: regarding the rear springs
I meant the TRUCK body weight. By the way, mine runs about 1200 lbs. I should have asked how much travel you've got before your helper springs engage. If you can keep them from "helping" during normal operation, they do add quite a visual element. AA springs are already impressive as they ...

Re: Need PTO for 1928 AA with 3-speed/2-speed set up
Neil Wilson, Thanks for the reply. Could you possible take some pictures of your PTO? I do not know the manufacture of the dump body. I work away from home during the week, but I'll try and take some pictures this weekend. The body is smooth sided without ribs. Looks correct for the time period but ...

Need PTO for 1928 AA with 3-speed/2-speed set up
I have a 1928 AA (AR) Ford Dump Truck with steel spoke wheels. It has the 3 speed/2 speed auxiliary set up. What it does not have is the PTO that fits. I have the one that fits the 4-speed used in 30-31. In fact I have two of them. Any idea where I can get the correct one? Also, my 7’ long by 6’ wid...

Re: regarding the rear springs
I would only keep those helper springs on the truck if you'll have a heavy body or haul heavy loads. Otherwise get yourself a mouth guard and a kidney belt. You are in for a stiff ride.
