Front End Rebuild
The first Project i'm doing on My AA is a front end rebuild. I have a few questions - Kingpins - mine don't look too bad, one didn't have any play and the other had about a 1/16th inch of play. Whats the general consensus on replacing these when they don't look too bad? Is anyone making these for la...

Re: Front spring tie bolt predicament
i got my spring back from the sandblaster today and primed them.
My springs have some grooves in them but they're not that bad. I'm leaning towards skipping the step of grinding out the grooves. Is that reasonable or a bad idea?

Re: Front spring tie bolt predicament
You should patent your 18 leafy spring painter! Nice work, looks like it turned out nice. Fortunately i have a 14 leaf spring and the clamps i have are not that bad so I might try to just clean them up and reuse them. Actually, Model A rear springs are 2.25 inches wide so I might try to get a set of...

Re: Front spring tie bolt predicament
HI Stakebed - I picked up a used spring and now need to do some rebuilding. What did you end up using for a spring bolt and spring clamps? I have the 14 leaf spring, i'm wondering if the standard A stuff will work on this? Does anyone know why the 14 leaf spring is often referred to as a 13 leaf spr...

Re: In need of Front Leaf Spring 30 Model AA
I Spoke to Travis from http://www.a-springs.com today and he will have a 30/31 AA spring available very soon. He's currently working on the design/ drafting aspect. If you're interested give him a call and let him know, he might increase his initial order if he knows there is a market for these. He ...

Re: In need of Front Leaf Spring 30 Model AA
Thanks Shelby, I just saw this today.
I called Eaton and they have the blue prints to make 28/29 and 30/31 springs.
If I can't find a clean used spring then I'm going to try to save my spring and use Eaton as a back up.
Thanks for this info.
Chris

Split Ring Safety
I was reading through older post on this forum and stumbled upon a few where the dangers of split rings was mentioned. Split rings are new to me so I'm glad I found this before I did too much work on my wheels. What precautions do you take when handling your rims and when? E.g just when your taking ...

Re: Brake Rod Guide
Thanks Stakebed, are you just heating them up and bending them back into place? My concern would be they would loose their strength by doing that.

Re: Brake Rod Guide
I was looking at the brakes on my AA today and it looks like a few of my brake rods are bent. I did a search and found this post.
Has anyone used the snyder's brake rods? Are they correct?
