Re: Got wheels assembled - safety question

I suggest the AA1015B wheel of 2/1929-12/1929 has straight valve stems. The bent ones were for the the 1930- for the Budd style wheel. Check with Neil for conformation on this. The image in the 1929 show room album shows straight stems with the long stem cover.

Re: Mirror Needed

If you go to the AA Club House Forum and search "Gathering firewood with a Model AA Ford"image 34 You can see one I made with a number plate clamp from a big car, a bolt with an eye at one end, a rod going through the eye and a mirror at the end of the rod. I used a piece of bicycle tube b...

Spare wheel lock nut removal

The 28-29 truck models with side mount spare has a A21924 lock nut on the long stud with the padlock hole. Using the AA-17036B Starting crank/wheel nut wrench it is impossible to remove this nut as the throat in the wrench is too shallow. I've often wondered how this nut is removed using the tools s...

US ARMY AA "Trouble Truck"

On the back of the latest newsletter is a photo of the above. On the spare wheel is a lock on one of the studs (not the one with the padlock hole). This may be an example of the Ford made AA18330 lock as listed in the list of accessories in the Indianapolis Letter of 6-22-3. The RH fender well fende...

Re: Any other UK AA'ers?

I recommend joining the fmaatc.org.(Ford Moel AA Truck Club) I glanced over the membership list and found no UK members. You can be the first. This club has a wealth of definitive information and is inexpensive and a good source of contacts. I was in Twickenham last November for a few days. We might...

Re: 1928-29 cowl lower bolts to frame ?

The A pillar looks like wood, not a Ford Factory practice. This may be factory, but not a Ford factory . This truck probably had an aftermarket body. Ford sold lots of chassis only vehicles. The 28-29- early 30 cowl was not straight up and down at the rear and various methods were used to mate this ...

Re: looking for 3 hole hood latch and gas cap

Unless you are putting together a show vehicle I wouldn't worry about it. The drop forged hook is one solid piece with a M in a circle on it (Moore Drop Forging Co. in Massachusetts). The later ones are rolled steel and hollow. In 1928 Ford had a thing about drop forgings, such as the gas shut off h...

Re: looking for 3 hole hood latch and gas cap

The 1928 hood handles were drop forged, that is just the hook part. These are not reproduced. As a running change the handle was changed to a stamping sometime in the 1928-1929 period. It's not clear from the above which is requested.

Re: Indented Door for side mount

See my The "non" dented fender post on the AA Club House dated Sept.09,2014 of a well maintained AA heavy duty express with a fender well, but a plain door. Excuse my heading; I meant door at the time.

Re: 31 delux wire wheels

In the photo of the rear end note the wire wheel hub does NOT butt up against the brake drum. A gap here. A BAD idea trying to fit the 1928 style wheel on a 1930 hub.. No support here. This truck originally had an aftermarket cab/body. Note the sheet metal to make the A pillar fit aftermarket cab.

Passenger side top of frame opposite transmission next to the body bracket is a hole. I think that is the correct hole.

Re: 29 bevel gear rear end

Gone, but not forgotten: The Ford Indianapolis Service letters of April 27,1931 page 5 states: "AA-4029-B driving gear and drive shaft matched 5.11 to 1 have been reinstated for service to be installed in the 1928-29 Banjo type sear axle only".
