Re: bed strip hole spacing
I measured the wheelbase at 131 1/2 but the aft end of the bed has been modified as the stakebed pockets have been cut off. The five ribs between the cab all appear to be in the correct place. Overall the bed measures 99 1/4. My plan for now is to finish the bed san rear stake pockets. Oak with poli...

bed strip hole spacing
Does anyone have measurements for what the whole pattern should be for the 96" long flat bed? (the spacing on the strips)
I measured hole to hole for the six cross beams and the spacing was not equal. perhaps it is not ment to be?

what a newsletter!
as a new memeber of the AA club I was not sure what to expect when it came to a newsletter. But I was plesently surprised, great photography, nice detailed writing. Well worth the membership price. Only bad thing is I now want a set of the reproduction mirrors (great mirror article by the way) reall...

two doors one hole?
speaking with my local AA experts (?) they tell me I need a 6 buck rubber plug to fill the hole in my right door. BECAUSE AA DOORS NEVER HAD LOCKS!
really? shouldn't the right door have a lock. As I don't have one I'm not sure.

which would lead to the musical question:
How do you tell if it is a 28-29 hood?

the hood has what!
Just got a call from the body shop who has found under three layers of paint and bondo a giant hole in my hood and what they believe to be chicken wire. No wonder it was so heavy. So I need a new hood. It just happens I have one from a 29 A pickup, although I would hate to use it as that truck is ne...

Re: running board supports
Mr. Wilson you've come thru again! It appears the AA bracket may be a tad longer, but the A component has a slightly tighter radius. For my project this will allow the tool boxes to fit further back under the bed. If this all works I will post pictures. (Hope the check for the club dues has arrived)

Re: running board supports
are your refering to the bracket that is closer to the rear of the cab as the longer one? Is the leg that supports the running board the longer leg? I am mounting a couple of under bed tool boxes. fortunately I've gotten a pair of boxes without a stamped logo. I will build a support under the bed to...

running board supports
are the brackets that support the running boards on an AA the same as the ones on a Model A pickup?
Are they two different lengths or are all four the same part?

Ah I understand now. Looks Like the more serious purchase of the longer timber is required.

Re: yet more bed questions!
my truck is a 29AA and as Niel was kind enough to post some pictures of a platform I know now that I have an 88a. Unfortunately sans wood and with a small amount of modification on the rear. the question is the length of the planks. I've decided to use red oak with polished stainless strips (confess...

yet more bed questions!
ok reciently we have had some discussions over bed plank width.
But what about width?
I found strips available at 96" long.
ok so my bed measures 99.375" outside to oustside.
how long is each plank? do they set back a bit from the outside of the frame?
thanks!

got the writeup, thanks a ton! Now I understand why my hood doesn't align as well as my doors.
Would it be better to take this shimming project to a pro? or attack it in the garage?
