Is that a one piece ring? What in the diameter or the center hole? Is there a date on the backside of the rim, ( where it would sit on the hub if it were on the front hub.

Re: oops... multi disc clutch and pressure plate
The replacement is just the single disk clutch that replaced the multiple disk clutch. Changing over would involve getting a new transmission, bellhousing and maybe pedals too.

It definitely doesn't have AA springs. It does have a B carburetor. Looks like an A engine and transmission.

Re: Stakebed or Platform bed, One and the Same?
Neil, I know you said that you haven't studied the BB trucks, but do you know if the racks were the same between the AA 157 and '34 BB 157? I know we have the racks off a '34 157" (and the truck, not for sale), but we might have another set for a 157". I may be able to get some pictures wh...

Ii think we might have a set of those spring hangers on a bus chassis we have. They are noticeably longer than the regular.

That's too cool! It looks like the door might slide open. It also appears that the front axle was flipped for more ground clearance. More pics are a must.

I'm sure that you've thought of these already, but I figured I'd post them. If I was closer, I'd see if I could help. Hope this helps.

Re: Results of my 30/31 rear end inspection for backlash
Mark,
After looking at the Mac's catalogue, it says the 32-34 axles are 18 tooth 36.56" long. I'm sure that you've done a lot of research, but have you tried Bert's, Mac's, Tam's? Just throwing ideas out. Hope this helps.

Re: Results of my 30/31 rear end inspection for backlash
Ford went to the floating axle in '34. The "aa" axles are 1 or 2 inches shorter than the '32 0r '33 axles. The spiders may be the same, but I'm not sure. Hope this helps.

Re: 31AA rear hub
The axle does have a taper with a keyway. It's a square key like the "a". Technically not a woodruff key.
