Re: AA ring and pinion gears.

A friend who is in to military stuff tells me that the 1930/'31 type split case timken rearend was used in a lot of WWII vehicles. He said they had higher gear ratios that the Fords used and that NOS ring & pinion sets show up at military vehicle swap meets.

Re: AA Express - Parts Request

I bought some door replacement panels from Howell's. They were made incorrectly and are unusable. Many E mails to Howell's have remained unanswered. Beware of Howell's. They only talk to you when they think they can get your money.

Re: Hydraulic brakes

The Camarillo truck has the stock AA frame. Small block Ford OHV engine and auto tranny. Originally the AA rear end was used but now replaced with a Dana. The truck owner is pissed off at the guy who did the hydraulic conversion and won't recommend him or tell me his name.

Hydraulic brakes

I saw a guy in Camarillo, CA that had a hot rod '31AA. He was using the stock front axle, '32 cast drums and such but had fit hydraulic brake shoes and cylinders into them. Does anyone have any experience with a set up like this?

I still say that is a boom truck and not a tow truck. The mast on a tow truck does not go that far behind the truck.

Ford painted the rearend after it was assembled. So all of those nuts and bolts should be painted too.

There are lots of Model A people in the San Deigo area. Go to the mafca.com web page and locate the clubs there.
I know where there is a pile of wheels and AA chassis parts in the desert east of Temecula. I'll try to remember the name of the town and direct you there.
