Parts Find Bonanza!

I recently picked up a load of AA parts from a guy building a hotrod. I had been emailing him off and on for several months. I wasn't too eager to get them since it was a 400 mile trip one way. Shipping old iron can be expensive. I was mainly interested in one or two 5-spoke wheels if the price and ...

Demounting old tires?

I have several old wheels and tires (30-31) that have seen better days/decades. I am trying to remove the tires from the wheels without success. The rubber has been on the rims for 50+ years. I am having trouble breaking the beads loose, remove the snap ring, and removing the old tires. What can I u...

Re: Brake Lining Tool

I have a set of NORS brake shoes. I will measure the countersink for the rivets and try to post some pictures. Is it possible to use contact cement to temprarily bond the linner to the shoe while the linner is being drilled and riveted? As was mentioned earlier, start from the middle and work your w...

Re: Frame Flex

I was working on a 131" Wb frame the other day (30-31). The front wheels are still on the ground but the rear wheels are off. I had the back frame sitting on the rear differential while I made saw horse. So, basically three points of contact. With very little effort, I was able to rock the back...

Re: 6v to 12v?

A 12 volt battery will spin a 6 volt starter faster and with more torque. That can create problems with the starter bendix and bendix bolts if they are not properly maintained.

Mystery Part ID!

I think this may be a Model T part. It could also be something for a tractor? Anyone know for sure? I found it in a basement crawlspace where it had been sitting for better part of the century. Measurements are as follows; Gear measures 5.25" ID and 7.625" OD It is about 7" high inclu...

Re: anyone interested in AA parts

Rufus Ranch is where I bought my 1930, 157", AA truck. Great bunch of folks to deal with. I bought it based on the pictures on their web site. Rufus Ranch helped load the truck on a commercial car hauler. It was shipped to me in Northern New York. When I finally seen the truck, I was very pleas...

It must be good. Otherwise you would be leaking brake fluid everywere.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Re: Is This Worth it?....

I bought a AA that was cut down and made into a tractor for parts. As it turned out, the brake drums showed zero wear, the U-joint looked new, and the transmission gears have minimal wear. The same guy sold me a nearly complete AA dump truck (dump body and tailgate all new, minus cab and hood) Anoth...

Re: AA Rear end??

It could be a 28-29 long wheel base truck?

Like the man said, "A picture is worth a thousand dollars".

(That saying usually applies when posting pictures of accidental damage like dropping a tool box on a fender or something.)
