Re: Still looking for AA to buy.

The Hudson Mass. truck show is Aug.7. It's a great show to ask around for leads on AAs for sale. It's an American Truck Historical Assoc. show; not to be missed. Best, Ed

Re: Is it grease or gear oil?

Oil goes in the cap on the end of the worm. I've seen a grease fitting in that hole, but it's oil that is used to lubricate the bearing in back of that AA4190 cap. A grease fitting in that hole is not incorrect as it is shown in the 1929 Ford dealer brochure. The lube fitting is at 12:00, not 3:00, ...

Re: Steering wheel restoration

TAMS Model A Parts sells two different priced 1930/1931 steering wheels. Snyders Model A parts also sells a steering wheel for 1930/1931. I'm not sure what the 1930/1931 wheel was made of, but the 1928 red wheel was made of Fordite, of course! Legend has it on hot days ones hands turned red. I've al...

Re: Looking for photo - hauler with A/AA's "Boulder Dam" banner?

The photo in question is on www.loc.gov/pictures. Search for HAER CAL,19-LONGB,2-A-94. There are 126 photos of the Ford Long Beach plant and this is #94. The banner reads Hoover not Boulder. The URL is the Library of Congress and the HAER is the Historic American Engineering Record. The truck is a A...

Re: Rear end

There's a gutter on the inside of that hump angled towards the bearing at the end of the worm to supply oil to this bearing. I've never seen any documentation about this, but I suggest its function from viewing it.

Re: '28 AA hauling leaves

In this state burning leaves is not allowed. I remove the leaves from around the house and garage and haul them to a hole on the property where sand was removed circa 1932 to pave a road in front of the property. Rather than buy paper bags and fill them with leaves it is an excuse to use the AA truc...

Re: Split-rim tools

Make sure the ring is free all the way around. If it is rusted to the wheel it will be ruined while prying it off. Rust is tough stuff. You can bend the ring out of shape if you try to pry it off while part of the ring is rusted in the groove of the wheel. Best, Ed
