Re: Rear leaf to shackle bolts
You got that right. I'm with you on "don't change anything permanatly". You can allways 'undo' anything you do..

Re: starter was cranking strong, now barely at all!
Pull the starter out, dissasemble, clean, lube, reassemble and try it on the bench. That "hiss" sound could be the shaft chatering in the bushing(s).

Re: Rear leaf to shackle bolts
ive done some thinking/measuring: the 1" bolt idea is looking good, exact same dimension that i measured off a ford bolt in a non worn spot. There are variations of 1" bolts that are 6" long - some the shank (non threaded part) is just a hair longer than the shoulder of the factory A...

Re: starter was cranking strong, now barely at all!
Like others said. Be sure it is in Neutral so the wheels don't have to turn. Also you mentioned a "hissing" noise? As in the starter switch not connecting well and arcing?

I'm getting ready to change the rear worm and ring to the high speed. Will I need the AA-4707-AS Drive shaft pin set?

floor mat Posts
I'm getting new posts that hold the floor mat in place. The oone on the left is still there, I can see the holes for two others, but the one all the way to the right side is not making sence. Where the hole in the mat lines up there is a rivet holding two parts of the floor structure together, but n...

Drilled a hole in a piece of metal to use as a quide to find high spots and filed them down until it fit then welded, filed, in the low spots. final fitting was with blueing and the bushings to fit. Remember these things bearly move at all...

Re: My truck...
May as well do the turn signals at the same time. Another few bucks of switch, wire and lights and you got it. I built my own istead of spending the big bucks on a purchased system.

Thanks Guys! I have the short running boards just like the ones in your picture. I just wanted to know if no rear fenders was original or not. Sounds like I'm good. Thanks again..

I'd go for getting them cut locally. Check the prices. Quality is probably better cut locally.
Just my thoughts..
