Re: Buy, Buy, American pie
The Chopper 1 Axe is made in the USA. It's a wonderful splitting axe. It has two spring loaded fingers in the head preventing it getting stuck in a log. It has USA in raised letters on the head. Available on-line. I've had mine since the earth cooled; now only available on line from the inventor.

Re: 1928 Vs 1929 Worm drive
The left housing in the worm area has an enlargement the inside of which is an angled gutter which feeds oil to the bearing at the end of the worm. This feature is NOT on the early worm housings. This change was a "running change". The early worm rear end has left and right housings of the...

Re: AAC trucks
Maybe those wooden wheels are Lincoln wheels. Some Lincolns had wheels like that with lots of hub bolts.

Re: spring opinion
One of the back issues of the MARC News suggested grinding off and rounding a little of the bottom tip of each leaf so it doesn't tend to burrow into the leaf below. I've also seen an AA with several leaves removed and replaced with a block of oak the same thickness and height of the removed leaves,...

Re: Open Coupling Shaft
In the July 1932 Ford Service Bulletins page 35 fig.51 is a drawing of a coupling shaft that appears to be open for the AA truck. This was a new part for the previous model. Might be worth a look.

Re: 1928-Early 1930 Open Cab AA Truck photos.
On the back cover of the July/Aug. Model A News v.51 #4 is an early 1930 AA closed cab express photo. It's a posed 1930 photo and might be a Ford Archives photo. The truck is obviously new and has the legend Bureau of Power & Light on the side. The issue of the MARC News gives no attribution, so...

Re: tire size
I have 6.00x20 tires on the front of my 1928AA. The only time the tire hits the brake rods is when I'm backing up with the wheels cut at the sharpest angle. You couldn't drive forward with the wheels cut at that angle and i can't see what damage the tire could do to the brake rods while backing up. ...

Re: 1928-Early 1930 Open Cab AA Truck photos.
Forgot to include my e-mail address: Edwin_Hayslip@brown.edu. Ford mag in 1930-31 has a picture of a lineup of early 1930 dump trucks with 76A open cabs bought by the Alaska highway department! Yes, Alaska!! Freeze in the winter and bitten by mosquitos in the summer. I don't have a run of this mag. ...

I have a photo of Abell's open cab 1928 AA truck, formerly a stake truck now an express truck. Abell of Model A starter fame had the truck at his place on Cape Cod. In the Jan.1937 isssue of Ame...

Re: 28/29 Style Cab on 1930 assembly questions.
You don't have to completely remove the starter to get the steering column in or out. Just loosen the starter bolts and push the starter towards the block.
