Re: Rivet removal and searching problems
I usually just grind the heads off and drive them out with a drift. Takes about 10 minutes. If you have a real hard one, definately heat it up with an oxy acytelene torch very carefully. You should be able to get the rivet red hot within 5-6 seconds and then drive it out. Be careful to only heat the...

Re: Hardware reference
Shelby & RS, Thanks for the direction. That does help alot. Neil, Thanks for your responce as well. My library is pretty thin and will probably invest in a few of the reprints. I suspect that the hardware I am looking for now is handled by my local ACE. I just need to spend some time there and b...

Re: Hardware reference
Shelby, Thanks for the link but I am not talking about rivets. I am talking about nuts, bolts & screws. Neil, Thanks for the head up on the books. I was going to order them tonite. Maybe Eric can chime in further. Although I probably can use the books anyway. Wish I could see them on line first.

Hardware reference
Does any one know of a hardware reference for the different fasteners for a Model A??? One that is specific to the part that you are installing. I have my new sheet metal windshield header fitted correctly in my 28 pick up and I wasn't able to salvage the old fasteners. I need to know what size and ...

Wanted: 29 29 cowl section
Looking for a drivers side lower cowl patch panel. It needs to be at least 6" high. Mac's is back ordered for 4 to 5 weeks but since they are only sold in pairs I gotta believe someone has an extra one laying around. I would also consider an original panel or part of one as long as the bottom 6...

Re: Buy, Buy, American pie
For other items I try to look here first before I buy. No sense in buying Levis and send my money to Mexico when you have a pretty good selection of bluejean manufactures still doing business in the USA. If you are looking for an American made drill motor you are pretty much SOL. http://www.stillmad...

Re: Buy, Buy, American pie
Sheet metal parts for our AA's and other A's as well as V8's & some Chevy's are available at Howell's Sheet Metal in Beaumont Texas. They make them all in their own shop and the quality is pretty good. I have had real problems in the past with delivery but the last two orders I sent them I had i...

Header sheetmetal
Probably like 90% of the people here I need to replace the top header sheet metal on my 28. This is the sheet metal piece that the windshield attaches too. I bought a replacement from Howell's but am really struggling with it to make it fit. I can make this thing work, but would really like to hear ...

Re: Whats it worth?
Fenders doors & cab look restorable. If that motor spins thats a good sign but you never know about cracks, especially in the valve seats. Not a big deal. Those can be repaired. The dump box and mechanism is a huge plus. I would certainly buy it, but a $1000.00 would be my top price. Have you go...

Neil,
Thanks for the up date on the express truck. That's a pretty good price for something that would need a total tear down and rebuild but it looks like most of the hard to find parts are on it.

The 14" brakes on my AA stop it just fine.

Re: Rear axle speed
Hi group, Still at the speed thing, yes supping up the engine is an answer but you lose the original Model A. Does anyone know if the Model TT worm gears are the same. This thread has had some interest as mentioned before I would love to see more AA's restored and on the road but the slow speed wit...
