Mark,
The '28 steel spoke wheel bolts right on. I don't think that the '30/'31 wheels would allow enough threads to be used to hold it on.

Lenny, Chris is correct. The manufacture date is stamped on the inside between two of the lug bolt holes. I think that this style of wheel was also used on other trucks. I have a couple of the wheels with the reinforcement ribs but the vent holes are rounded rather than pyramid design. There is a re...

Russell,
What year of AA truck do you have? It makes a difference on how to take the hub and brake drum apart.

AA Rear Hub and Brake Drum Assemblies: The AA rear hub and brake drum are held together by the five hub bolts. For '28/'29 AA's, the hub bolts are inserted from the inside of the hub and swedged in place (like the A's). For '30/'31 the hub bolts are inserted from the outside and held in place by a n...

Hello Sam,
I don't know of any documentation on the installation of cab wood. However, both the closed and open cabs used on the AA's are the same cabs used on the A's. So, this will give you a greater source of information.

Steve79a,
I would be interested in the '30/'31 valve stems (probably 3 sets).

Mark, The clutch housing for the 4-speed transmission is about 1-1/8" shorter than the clutch housing for the 3-speed transmission. The '28 and most '29 AA's came with the 3-speed transmission and therefore used the corresponding Model A clutch housing. If you want to use the Model A clutch hou...

I have not seen any documentation on the AA Panel Delivery bodies (85-A and 85-B). These bodies are largely the same as the A Panel Delivery bodies (79-A and 79-B) except they are about two foot longer. I have some pictures of my '30 79-A showing the wood structure which might be of interest to you....

Bert, You will not be able to determine the axle ratio from markings on the housings. If you remove the speedometer driven gear from the axle, the axle ration is marked on the end of the gear. However, the axle gears could have been changed without the speedometer gears being changed. If you send me...

Richard, Ford offered rear fenders as an option starting early '28 through mid '29. The rear fenders are larger than the A fenders (and a different design - between a coupe and sedan fender). You will need long running boards, the #3 running board brackets, rear fender spacers, and rear fender brack...

Richard, According to the '29 Ford Parts Price List, the bevel gear rear axle has different parts from the worm drive axle (including the torque tube and drive shaft). The drive gear and drive shaft are one part (AA-4209-A or AA-4209-B). These are for the 7.16:1 or 5.11:1 gear ratios. The backing pl...

RJ, You do have an A front spring. If the throat of the front cross member is 1-3/4"+ very little, then your frame is a '28 or '29. If the throat is too wide, then your frame is a '30 or '31. In early '30 the frame, front and rear axles were changed but not the cab and other sheet metal. You ca...
